Not sure what the big red canister is on the engine in the last pic? Anyone know?

Is that a flathead motor? Sure looks like it.

The red canister is an oil filter I think. That is what they used back in the old days. Then someone invented the spin on type which was easier to change then Toyota decided that a canister filter was better with 2o rings, special fitting to drain and a special wrench to remove.

Didn't see this owner either. I would love to know his investment. Has to be close to $100K. Custom paint, bumpers, decals, lights, winch, etc. 38" tires are probably close to $300 each, maybe more?

As a multiple Jeep owner myself, I like it.

Yeah, I've serviced a canister type filter before. But it wasn't on TOP of the engine, it was somewhere on the side.

Oil filter makes the most sense but it's odd looking, IMO.

I love the Willys Overland, the blue one.

I think this was the first one I've seen in person in over 20-25 years. The last one was in no where as near as good of shape as this one is.

Looks like a temp sensor on top of the tach?

I think it is a shift light, when the revs get to a preset number the light comes on.

Thanks for sharing the pics

Well, that makes more sense.
