My Winchester 94 finally arrived home Wednesday, after I freed it from layaway (along with a S&W I-Frame .32 long). I plan to refinish it. So @Snavebaexpect some questions from me, when I get started on this project. 
 

The serial number (188XXXX) indicates it was produced in 1952.

Like they did brand new.  They are cared for, just not shot much.

Bought the 39 about 10 years ago,  the 336T I got for Christmas (with some begging, lol) when I was in 7th grade.

When I was in 7th grade I also started reloading…30-30 being one of the calibers.  Last night I rediscovered my stash of rounds I reloaded all those years ago.  Decided it was time to get rid of those 40+ year old reloads from barely teen me.  They look like hell and I don’t even know what’s in them, but they all went bang and not to bad accuracy-wise.

What are your thoughts on Micro-Groove  rifling?

Well, most of my Marlins are Micro-groove so I can’t say I don’t like it. (LOL). If it was bad, Marlin wouldn’t have kept it for ever. Is it as accurate as Ballard rifling, I’m not sure. But super accuracy is not what I am worried about.

So in a fit of weakness, I picked up three new (to me) Marlins over the course of about a week and a half.

First is a Marlin 336TS Texan from 1984. 30-30, straight stock, 18.5” barrel.  
 

The second is a Marlin 1894C in .357 Mag.

The last is a Marlin 336 Saddle Ring Carbine in .30-30. Basically a Texan, but 20” barrel instead of 18.5” barrel and a saddle ring.  Of course I found it last. I had to buy it because it was made in 1969 (my birth year) and will go with the 336 in 30-30 and the 336 in 35rem I also hand from ‘69.

I may move the Texan when all is said and done.  It is the only one I have in hand. It has really nice wood on the stock. Once I am done cleaning it up (and the others once they are in hand) I will post photos.
