new XD 9 SubCompact 13 round mags

Oh Shoot

Recommended Posts

This slipped under my radar, but Springfield now has 13 round mags for the XD 9 subcompact.

Same dimensions as the 10 rounders, flush fit.

Folks on XDtalk say they are just as reliable.

Great news, just ordered two of them. May replace my spare 16 rounder with one, too. Still would have 27 rounds total, but less bulk in pocket for the spare with the Xtension.

JFYI, XD 9 subbie owners...

I think new guns are still shipping with one 10 and one 16 rounder, though.

This is big news.

Who has 'em ? XD gear or after market ?

Yeah, I kinda thought it was.

Just Springfield right now.

At 28.95 plus shipping, ouch.

I think MegGar or somebody has similar, but they don't fit flush.

The Springfield ones are same physical size, flush fit.

They did away with the two long dimples on each side toward bottom and made the follower flatter or something and yet the spring longer, go figger. Guys on XD talk say they run fine.

Begs the question why they didn't think to engineer them this way to begin with, would have been even bigger selling point.

My guess is the enhanced engineering that allows the XDM capacities had something to do with it.

Of course, you could already get 13 9mm in a short .40 mag, but they say you generally have to tweak the lips and whatnot. These are good to go as is.

I'm glad to hear that SA has come up with a 13 round mag for the 9sc without increasing the overall size of the package. 10 was ok but more is always better!
