Hurricane Ida and Asian Grocery Stores

I don't like this. It looks like Tennessee could be getting a lot of rain from this in the middle of next week.

Ida could make landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on Sunday when it hits the Gulf Coast with maximum winds of 140 mph, according to the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center.

Projected to become a Category 4 hurricane, the storm would strike 16 years to the day since Hurricane Katrina made landfall there as a Category 3 storm with 125 mph winds near the riverside community of Buras in Plaquemines Parish.

If y’all would start driving electric cars and stop farting this wouldn’t happen any more.

If it really is the farting, then I need to apologize to y’all. That one is probably almost entirely on me.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When have we NOT gotten a lot of rain this year?  🤨

My point exactly, it's the last thing we need.

Depends where you are in TN. We could use some. High 90* temps every day dries stuff out quick.

They made the decision not to evacuate the hospitals in New Orleans since there are no beds in Texas or elsewhere in Louisiana.

I get it, but that’s going to be a nightmare scenario if Ida does in fact make landfall as a Cat 4.

Current local TV forecast has it hitting somewhere around New Orleans as a Cat 4. Then the remnants running up the Mississippi and hitting  West TN starting Sunday night and going  through Tuesday.  Calling for winds up to 35 mph and possibly 4-5" of rain here. I hope they're wrong. 🙄

I'm in Biloxi right now at the hospital, Sharon is not quite ready to travel yet.

Sunny with cloud cover due south into the gulf (she has a room with a view)

Wind and rain in Biloxi right now, but I don't perceive hurricane  tropical storm impact.

Seems more like heavy rain storms.

Staff at Merit Health Biloxi is top notch!!!

I thought this was a joke when I first saw it but it comes from Accuweather and is sometimes used by FEMA.

What is the Waffle House Index?

No joke, this became well known about 10-15 years or so ago during other hurricanes. Unlike our beloved gubbermint bureaucrats, private enterprises have aggregated their fecal matter for when said fecal matter hits the fan. In short, they know what the heck they're doing. (Mostly because they hire people based on performance & not because they check diversity hire boxes.)

I'm afraid this storm may well make Katrina look like a summer storm by the time it's done, IMO.

It turned out to be a non-event here in the west end. The storm turned east and all we got was some light rain.

How'd you folks in the middle fair? It seems y'all got most of it.

A little over 3” here at my house last night.

Minor flooding around town in all the places that are prone to that.

I need to buy a rain gauge. We have some minor flooding in Knoxville according to the news. Just a slow steady rain at my house today.
