Crop production way down.

Was listening to a farm trade group this morning talking about the long term risks they see in a warming climate pushing yields way down.  There were people in the group working on heat tolerant varieties - but then they were like, “but we can only do so much and expect yields to be impacted.”

It was also interesting to hear them talk about hot air being able to hold a lot more water - thus producing more events like the one this weekend in Waverly - and how that much rain is basically as bad as no rain in a growing season.

I’m just a data guy, but big agriculture is super interested in all this stuff.

The loss in grain production will be offset by the increased pressure from the greenies to reduce the public consumption of grain fed livestock.     Better start liking that lab grown meat and veggie burgers.   🙂

I am not farmer or a numbers guy, but I can see the big picture and this isn’t looking good.

I can’t stand beyond meat or impossible burgers.  I will eat the occasional black bean burger.  Chicken is already going up in price and supplies are not as plentiful in the store. Plus the hoarder buying is making it worse.

I've never really ate like a rabbit. I'm a omnivore. I've ate some of the stuff rabbits eat and the rabbit. I tried a Burger King Impossible Whopper. I don't know...........

I was an early adopter of the meatless burger. Probably my hippieesque background.

Meh... They're not that good. But they are edible and rather tasty.

It’s not the taste was bad it wasn’t, but the impossible burger upsets my stomach. I think my gut felt cheated!

The new generation “meatless” burgers are strange when you look at how it’s made.  They’re taking protein from plants - adding enzymes - and basically making lab grown meat.

It didn’t come from an animal - but it’s meat.

I channel my grandfather on the stuff. He would have said, “I trust cows more than I trust chemists.”

Maybe you can't tell them from meat.  As an avowed carnivore, i can.  There's a reason why we have incisors you know ...

I'll add my poor opinion here. I bought some Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuits made from Plant Based Protiens. Just to see how it was. Personally...it tastes pretty bad to me. It's edible, but not sausage as I think it should taste.

BK Impossible Burger...not liking at all.

But all the doom and gloom makes me think I might have to like it soon.

Wish I had/could afford a HUGE walk in freezer compartment. I would be stocking up.

Even small impacts of climate change (man made or natural) are a big deal to anyone who produces our food supply, so it should matter to us down the line as consumers in every sense of the word.  When those at the production stage are worrying, it's not good.

I've not tried the faux meat yet, and don't plan on it anytime soon.  But remember, large innovations often enough are shunned by the current generation, then adapted by the next one.  This is a generational move underway, so any grumblings on our part may be short lived.

Plants grown in a greenhouse turned into "meat" grown in a lab. What could go wrong ? I guess they could add the necessary drugs into it to make sure your body can process it. And as someone who's spent years sampling the different alternative sh!t these mfgrs churn out to get around something real I can tell you those animals are there for a reason and it's not for "emotional support" chickens .

Yea, and I have heard dating a tranny is like the real thing too 🤢  Nope, got to have the real thing, and until they kill off all the deer and wild hogs, there should be plenty of supply for some time to come.

Great!

Please eat more so there's more real meat for us carnivores.

I never said I don't eat meat. It's interesting that diehard carnivores are just as militant as some of the vegetarians out there. It's like meat-eating has become some sort of macho sport. I like ribs just as much as the next person but I can also appreciate some meals I've had that didn't include meat.

As can I, except that I won't eat something trying to mimic something else.  I love my vegies, but they look and taste like themselves.

Never said you didn't, just pointing out that the more plant eaters there are, the more real meat there is for us carnivores.
