CW40 holster

Recommended Posts

Just got a new CW40. What is a good holster for concealed carry? There are several IWB options out there. I got a Don Hume IWB for my glock 32 and don't care too much for it. So what are some options?

It's not that bad at all. It does look like alot but it's really not. I bought based on the many recommendations from folks here. The leather and holster part only add about maybe a hair over 1/8" to the thickness of the gun, if that helps. I'd like it even more if I weren't pushing my pants to the limit waist-wise.

I like the versatility of it. You can change the belt clips or holster itself for different guns.

Here's my CW9 in the thing:

You getting any scarring or discoloration on the pistol from the polymer part of the holster?

I have a CW45 I need a holster for as well. Not as many choices for the Kahrs out there either.

The Kydex is unlined so yes, if you constantly whip it out you may mar the pistol. That's the drawback. I'm trying to figure out a way to put some lining in that sucker. Kahr's aren't exactly pretty but I do like my guns to look good.

If you like all leather, like me, you might look into David Bullard's stuff; I have same IWB for Kahr PM9 as in avatar. Very comfy, disappears.

That's mighty fine gun leather. I know you've told me before but I never can remember! No doubt leather is best. Need to investigate.

Thanks OS. They've got some nice holsters on that website. I really like the IWB with metal clip. My previous holster experience has been with larger companies like Galco, Desantis, etc.

Nice!

I might order one for my HK USPc. Can the belt clips can be moved up or down to adjust the cant? Looks like it should conceal as well as an MTAC or Crossbreed...

This is what mine would look like. I'm not real crazy about that reinforcement piece at the top though - wonder if that would make it bulky...

There are two holes on each side, so allows some adjustment for cant. Top hole in front, bottom hole in back gives max. He already builds at least 15 degrees in.

Notice in my avatar pic for the XD - I actually got a set of Kydex clips from Comp-Tac. They have 5 holes, allow some additional tweaking (I cut off excess holes).

He has added that extra piece to the line since the last Dual Carry I bought; I'm sure it's to help keep throat open for re-holstering. Even though he uses fairly thin leather, it has to add just a bit of thickness, though. I'd say he'd make it without it if you ask, since I have three without it. Mine are certainly not as quick to re-holster as say, a kydex model, but I don't much care; I'm more concerned with speed of draw rather than speed of re-holster.

Hey OhShoot,

I really like what you did to this, adding the plastic clips. Did you get the extra lining? Think it's needed?

No, I don't see any reason for it.

The leather is plenty soft enough by itself. These aren't dipped in polymer or whatever some leather holster makers do that make em as stiff as kydex.

And the last think you need is added thickness to an IWB holster, seems to me.

I have a galco IWB with mag holder that I got from OhShoot that's just doesn't work for me. It's a good holster, I just can't wear it how it should be with my shape.

i'd let it go for pretty cheap if you'd be interested. I can't find a link or the pics that OS sent me right now

If I was to get a Bullard Id have to pay the Extra 5.00 for the holster to be done in black. Come to think of it I never even seen a bullard holster in black except on his website.

At the time I bought my Dual Carries from him, he didn't offer the black option except with his various OWB holsters.

Thanks OS,

Just trying the shave cost where I can. Think I'm going this way.

I really like the all-leather, instead of the 1/2 Kydex MTAC.

Note that holster is for PM/MK 9/40.

Abailey said it fit his CW40, but I guess the CW barrel must stick out the bottom by .5 " or so?
