I hate to hear this. He was a great character actor. I liked him in Gunsmoke episodes, Red Dawn, Any Which Way You Can, and others I can't remember right now.

I always liked him. Although he often played the bad guy, he could do comedy very well. I remember him as Joe in the old TV series Laredo. And the article reminded me of his role as the strict Russian officer in the original Red Dawn. 

Yep, he was one of those faces you saw all the time, but didn't seem to get the recognition they deserved.

I first noticed him in the role of Falconetti in the mini-series, Rich Man, Poor Man, as the bad guy enemy of Nick Noltes character.  He was good at being the bad guy.
