Who here shoots on their own property ?聽 If so what kind of range set-up do you have..

I built my own range 3 weeks after moving into our new house 馃檪

I have a small range. I shoot off my back deck out to about 30 yards into a hill side. If I set up a portable shooting table I can extend to 60 yards, but I checked it out the other day and some trees need some trimming for 60 yards since it was last used.聽

My close target is 10 yards. I have an assortment of steel in different thicknesses That I color code when I paint them. Red for .22 only, Yellow for hand guns and carbine, Green for most anything within reason considering the distance. By doing a mix I could put up a lot more .22 steel for the money, and more reactive. I have a couple of places that I can hang paper when I need to sight in a gun.

Not at home, but I own a little over 7 acres that I hunt on that has a perfect setup for my short range shooting.聽 I plan on setting up a 100 yard target for zeroing my rifles, but since it has to be hilltop to hilltop I need to dig it down a bit for a good backstop.聽 I buy the thicker targets, so I can shoot most anything at them, though I have a couple that are for handgun only.聽 I started with the grouped targets, but have also got the T-post hangers to put them at different ranges most anywhere with a good backstop.

I have a range, steel targets and metal framed paper holders. In ground markers at 15, 25, 50, 100 and 150. Longest unobstructed shot is available out to 300, but rarely used.

After using cheap sale and聽flea market paint聽I started buying my target paint from聽https://www.rangestore.net.聽Target Paint has a higher percentage of pigment and covers faster. It cost more but covers faster, so goes further.

Several of my heavy use targets was getting ruts under them from deflected bullets. I tried mulch but it turns to dust fairly fast. I then found rubber mulch and it holds up well, just rake them back in place once in awhile.

I like the idea of using better paint .聽 I may have to order a few cans to try out.

I have a wood bench and a dirt backstop 100 yards apart. I cam shoot much further than that here, but it works for most applications. I have several neighbors that use it as well, but I am particular as to who. It is invitation only for safety鈥檚 sake.

I鈥檓 lucky enough to have a full bay with 聽a 15ft berm on the back and about 12ft聽on the sides. Had it dig out of a hill when we built our place. We are also out in the sticks on 37 acres of a ~130 acre family place. I hope to acquire the rest down the road. I can shoot out to about 100 in the berm and out to 400 in the field behind my house.聽

I am itching for a plate rack and a couple of nice AR500 plates. Right now I have some thinner steel sheets hanging on some homemade hooks. They do great but I鈥檇 like to be able to shoot the rifle more.聽
