Burn Barrels

Where can I find a smaller than 55 gal drum to use as a burn barrel? Would prefer something about half that size. Just to use for mail and some old documents.

I've seen some in Rural King before.  Not something I was ever looking for specifically, so no idea of quality.

A stainless drum out of an old washer makes a good burn barrel for what you are doing

Check with local farm/heavy equipment dealers. A 30 gallon grease or gear oil drum would be perfect for you.

Thought about just using a fire pit from the local big box store? 

They’re generally big enough for months of household mail - and they’ve generally got screen covers that will keep your flaming bank statement from taking flight and burning down the neighborhood.

I took one out of a washer that was too expensive to repair before it went to the scrap yard. 

But this is East TN, surely you know someone that has two or three old washers in the backyard

You live in Tennessee.  Lots of houses have unrepairable washers on the front porch... Dime a dozen!!!

I used to buy a lot of reconditioned drums and locally got them at Nashville Barrel & Drum.  Its been a few years and I see they're located in Fairview now.
