Most FAL‘s are absolutely gorgeous. It is up there as one of the most aesthetically pleasing rifles but I have ever had the joy of owning. Go back to the first page and look at the way this one originally came to me. There ain’t nothing pretty about that.

L1A1 on the lower and Imbel on the upper.  That works!  While I like the looks of the long L1A1 flash-hider, the metric combo device is much more practical and reduces flash better.

I do actually still have those parts but no, I can’t put it back in the old configuration. It’s not a simple parts swap like an AR. It takes a bit more involved work to swap barrels and such on that upper receiver.

Maybe just put the thumb hole back on for pics. Worst case scenario, you lose the retainer on the recoil spring. Those are cheap, and I may even have a couple under various work benches. I mean, I understand the pride in ownership of an FAL, but you may be underestimating the fun of explaining to friends at the range that it’s not a Daewoo.
