M' Wife's bees.....

Recommended Posts

So I pulled honey frames this morning. I ended up with 69 medium frames of honey, leaving about a full 8-frame super of honey on each hive. I think I should get about 16-18 gal. We’ll see. I’m next in line for the extractor.

Pulled honey today. From the three hives, I pulled 95 frames of honey. Looks to be about 27-28 gallons of honey. Best year yet!!

i haven’t bottled it yet, but I am asking $12/lb. So that is either $12 for a 1lb squeeze bottle or $30 for a 2.5lb quart jar.

I will put a listing up in the classified section.

Oddly, around Franklin County, folks are having a terrible bee year. We lost 5 hives this spring. They over-wintered just fine, but 3 out of 7 got wax moths, the other 2 just abandoned around April/May.

The guys at Duck River are all saying the same. Between wax moths, late freezes etc, everyone's honey flow is down to drops this year.

Wow. all three of my hives came through the winter fine. Two were very strong, one moderate (my oldest hive).  I have had very low mite counts, almost ZERO hive beetles, no real issue with wax moths in the hives. They tried to get into my extra frames, but I was out of Paramoth.

Maybe my bees took all their nectar. 😎

I do live in a part of Nashville that is covered up with Tulip Poplar, Red Maple and other good tree nectars.
