Could someone explain the attraction to lighthouses. My wife makes a big deal out of them. To me they are simply a grain silo with a ladder and a big flashlight.

They saved a bunch of ships from ending up on the rocks over the years and I don't think many silo's did that...lol. They all have some kind of history behind them. If nothing else you can keep your better half happy on the trip...LOL

Oh yeah. Keeping her happy is the whole point of the trip. I’d love to see the fort, but there’s a line of folks standing there that looks like the Rolling Stones are about to play.

There’s a fort south of here we might go check out. I’d like to go back downtown and see some more things we missed. There’s a lot to see here if you like crowds. I do not care for them. The scenery at the pool is nice.

As long as they don’t run out of beer, I’ll make it.😆

There is a New York Pizza place on, the strip, and we try to eat there every time we visit. Best pizza I have ever eat. One piece will fill you up. My daughter lives in Ponta Vedra, just up the coast from St Aug.

I’d like to go back to the old part of town tomorrow and see some things we missed. The parking situation could be improved.

We drove down to Daytona this evening. That’s a wild place.

Saw an 8’ road kill alligator on I-95. That was pretty cool.

The wife wasn’t amused when I mentioned stopping amd putting it in the trunk.

You know hitting that thing had to be kinda rough. There might've been some good meat on that thing. You might've come up with some good recipes.  I'd like to try it, never got the chance.

Careful… Pretty sure the gates to hell are in Daytona Beach somewhere.

Never heard it put that way before MacGyver, but your probably correct one could find his pathway to perdition there if he had a mind too. Come to think of it, one could do that just about anywhere.

I'm currently down the road a piece from St. Augustine.  The town itself if pretty seedy and many of the tourist oriented restaurants long ago began looking a little long in the tooth.  That said, the Lightner Museum is very engaging.  As to restaurants I feel The Columbia is a must for the atmosphere if nothing else.

You may enjoy driving a little inland to take an air boat tour.  Maybe drive further towards the center of the state to snorkel in the springs.  Ginnie Springs is cool, both figuratively and literally.  Although there are plenty of charter boats in that area for off shore fishing, if you go out of Sebastian or further south you'll likely get some great catches.

Doing any shooting while down here?  I have access to the 600 yard NRA certified range in Palm Bay.  In Volusia on the weekends they open up the 1250 yard range.  Once per month you can actually shoot a mile if you have the hardware to accomplish that.

Have fun.

You are right. The Lightner Museum was quite impressive. I don’t care for the glassware, but everything else in there including the building it’s self was well worth seeing.

I’m weird, but I really enjoyed the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum. It is in a castle.

If you want some real sights check out Blind Creek Beach in Ft. Pierce.  I'll warn you though that much of what you'll see will have you wanting to rinse your eyes with bleach!

I’ll pass. The scenery here is quite pleasant for the most part.
