I watched a documentry on this place. The wild life is bouncing back but some have bad defects. Some wildlife even adapted to live within the radiation.

True.  However, neighboring Pripyat, where many of the images purported to be from Chernobyl are actually taken, was a restricted city, so those who lived there were all pretty much assigned to do so, as part of the necessity of maintaining the Soviet industries and infrastructure supporting them.  It's also true that much of the population of Chernobyl was massacred multiple times throughout history, first in Jewish pogroms and later by both sides fighting in the Russian civil war and then the Nazis.  It's one of those Ukrainian cities with a lot of history, much of it violent, long before the nuclear disaster ...

Well.  Not sure what that has to do with the Chernobyl incident, as it seems to be some sort of commercial for a game.  It does rank near the top as one of the stupidest things I've watched lately ...

I feel like Chernobyl tourism might end up being quite important to the economy of the area in the coming decades.

I certainly feel like it would be interesting to visit.

I thought I had read an article that inferred the severe Russian winter weather was degrading the containment system in place.

Maybe a dude farm type of vacay?

It could be getting better in some areas. People that visit there carry geiger counters. They've tested animals around Chernobyl and some have high concentrations of radiation but, seem fine. The fish have radiation too.
