He's actually not a bad guy.  His internet persona has even tamed down a bit over the past few years, but that seems to have always been an amped up version of his personality "for effect".  People, myself included in the past, have dog piled onto second- and third-hand information about him which is unfortunate.  I've mentioned before that I was quite wrong about it and regret that I was one of those people.

It's worth watching the videos he's done with John Lovell of Warrior Poet Society to see a glimpse of who he is.

Or take a class at Tactical Response. He’ll even let you* stay in the team room which in reality is his basement.  The curriculum might be familiar to you if you’ve trained with certain trainers, and not because James was the one who copied it.

He doesn’t need me to stand up for him, but I will just say that after 10 minutes talking to the man, you’ll realize that what you think you know from the internet is probably wrong. After two days experiencing the class and the community, you’ll likely have your entire viewpoint changed.

I know I did and I made it a point to apologize to him for the smack I talked on the internet (like here) even though he had no idea who I was before I slept in his home.

*You in general sense, not specific, used throughout.

My worry with using a magnet would be getting into an accident and creating one heck of a heavy projectile to bounce around.

This right here! If you're doing 60 mph and come to an abrupt stop, guess what flies around at 60 mph, phones, drinks, handguns, magazines. Had ever could find a decent holster system for my truck. So I just use the center console. That's more to store in an NPE situation.

Any magnetically induced reduction in velocity can be offset by greasing up your bullets to go faster.

No effect if shooting North

Has any thought been put to how the gun magnet would affect some of the digital readouts ( such  as speedometers and tachs and such) the drivers depend on ?

I made my own under table gun magnets. I took a very strong neodymium magnet with two countersink holes, put it inside a shrink tube, shrunk it with a heat gun to fit the magnet, carefully cut a slit in the shrink wrap over the countersink hole, peeled back the tubing, screwed the magnet to the table, and then carefully pulled the shrink wrap back to cover the screw head.

The problem I ran into in mounting it in the car was where to put it so my knee wouldn't hit it while getting in or out of the car. I finally gave up on the car magnet gun mount and found a better location. Of course, it's going to vary from one car to another.

I gave up on this idea for the car.

Really so few places to do this in current vehicles. Just not enough room for placement and acquiring it quickly. At least for my use.
