OF COURSE, ends with people interference.  Wild boar are an exotic, environmentally damaging creature that the Park Service tries to control and eliminate.  Smoky is simply combining his fire fighting job with pig elimination.

I realize that hog is substantially smaller than the bear, but I really expected it to put up more fight. I always heard they got nasty when threatened.

How long had they been at it before the video starts?  The hog had a couple opportunities to escape but appears too tired to run.  The bear could've drowned it in that ditch and been done in a minute or so.

I read that the Park folks suspected the boar had been hit by a car

That bear’s not a very good hunter...it just kept grabbing the back of the boar’s neck. A big cat would have gone right for the throat and choked him out.

Except that's down near the tusks.  I'd say the bear was smart about that.  He didn't get his own throat ripped out.

That makes sense since the hog really isn't fighting back.  And the bear only pounced because the hog was already hurt.

The bear is a powerful animal and very smart.

Have seen mostly Cubs there but they do have a fair amount of bears around the cove.

When you see the cubs, it’s the bears you don't see that concern me the most.

I don't think that hog ever heard the advise of don't play dead if a black bear is mauling you. Fight back!
