Okay, so I got in on the Monarch/Academy 7,62x39 sale. I bought...errr, a bunch.

I shot a few hundred in my Yugo AK over the weekend, and cleaned it at work this morning. Good GOD! It looks like someone took a  in my gas tube!

I thought Wolf was dirty! It's accurate, feeds and functions perfect, and @ $150/thousand I shouldn't be griping, but this stuff is pretty cruddy.

I LITERALLY scraped off the crud from my gas piston with a small putty knife:stunned: If it had been some NON AK, I bet it would have failed from fouling. Even the receiver/trigger group was black muddy. Took about 40 Qtips to mop out the receiver!

Anyways, I was just curious if yall's stuff was this nasty???

No more than any of the other Com Block stuff I have been shooting.

I bought about 3k worth in different batches.

I have shot some wolf that was dirty one time and the next time not. I guess it is what ever powder is used that week.

Ive put about 1k rounds of Monarch through my AK. No dirtier than other stuff I have shot. Its just barnaul ammo rebranded. I havent had a single misfire with the ammo, and for the price, i havent found any ammo cheaper online or other than this stuff at academy.

What was the sale btw? I know they had the 2.99 back in oct 08, did they have another recently or is it still 6 bucks per 20. I was up there yesterday getting some plinking 40 cal ammo and saw all the 7.62 monarch was gone, i usually grab a few boxes even if i dont need them anytime i make a trip.

Yeah, I was referring to last year's sale.

Is it really $6 a box now!!!!???!!! Wow, I'm glad I won't be paying that for it. If I stick to the pre-planned diet, I should be good indefinitely. Provided the chinese or martians don't invade.

Oh, that's good to know;)

It is a testament to the AK that it can function when all others would choke. I couldn't notice one difference in it's function all day. I wouldn't trust my Bushmaster to do the same.
