Did a thing. Benchmade 273GY-1 MINI ADAMAS CruWear knife.

I'm still waiting on the full-size variant of these to come available in another week, but I wanted to pick up one of these too since it seems like a more "carry friendly" EDC sort of knife.

There are a few steels that I am a big fan of and CruWear is one of them.  It's a bit more difficult to sharpen than CPM S30V, for example, or the D2 that the previous Adamas was produced in... but you can't beat it for retaining an edge with use.  When I saw that the new Adamas and MINI Adamas were going to be released in CruWear, I knew my wallet was going to get a bit lighter.

The smooth G10 scales are perfect for pocket carry, the Axis lock is one of the strongest ambidextrous lock types out there, and the pivot runs on legit brass washers.  Brass washers are my favorite for a knife that might get dusty or dirty (you know... USED like a knife) since they tend to keep grit and grime out of the pivot better than the other alternatives.

I am very pleased with this one.  If you get a chance, pick one up for yourself.  🙂

Nice!  I have one of the ones with D2 steel  in auto.  I like it but its BIG!  Looking at their web site, I see a mini, but it doesn't look like it is available in mini auto...anyone know different?

I have the new full-size on order and it'll be here tomorrow.  I'll have some pics of it soon.  🙂

As for the auto, that's only in full size right now.  Honestly, the Axis lock on the non-auto makes an automatic practically pointless in my opinion.  With minor adjustment to the T-10 pivot screw you can get the sweet-spot where the blade doesn't have any wiggle to it but will flick open with barely any effort, if not open/close by gravity only.

I took the blade and brass washers out of my Mini, cleaned the blade and pivot thoroughly and applied some better oil to it, and polished both sides of the washers on a 5,000 grit water stone to smooth them out.  That knife opens effortlessly.

Cool, thanks.

The mini wasn't available at BladeHQ when I first checked, so I used the "notify me" option.  Received an email about a week later that it was available.  Purchased one and a few days later it was out of stock again.

I didn't see any other websites at the time that had them available.

I've carried this knife since I received it and like it a lot.  Very smooth operation.  Specs show it's heavier than most of my usual auto's that I carry but it's not noticeable in the pocket.

I emailed Benchmade asking if they plan on doing the new mini  Adamas in an auto version.  They answered:  "Thank you for reaching out to Benchmade. The 2750SFE-2 or the 2750SGY-3 are the automatic version of the updated Adamas, that are  going to be released soon!"  They didn't mention an answer to my question, as these two look to be full size, but the two they listed are partially serrated.
