Q about a Can on a semi-auto pistol

Stainless

Recommended Posts

I have scene some vids of 9mm with a can attached. Does the slide return each time if the barrel is loose (say on a Glock) ?

I want to put one on my G19 and or Tarus PT145. But worried about the barrel being loose and causing the slide not to recock properly.

Any help out there?

I'm not sure I understand the question, but let me just point out a few things that may answer your question anyway:

You will need a longer, threaded barrel for whatever you choose to use with the suppressor. Assuming it's the Glock 19, you would obtain a threaded barrel from someone like Storm Lake or Lone Wolf.

The barrel does not move with the slide on a Glock. It is an independently functioning piece that will tip ever so slightly as the slide comes fully out of battery during the recoil cycle, but it stays in essentially the same location. Adding a suppressor does not add weight to the slide, so the slide should function as normal.

The things that you will need to replace are the sights. A suppressor's radius typically extends above the front sight blade on a Glock, so taller sights are required.

Hope that helps?

You will have no problem running a suppressor off your G19, provided you have the correct suppressor and barrel.

I haven't seen any aftermarket barrel support for the PT145, but if they are available, you would also be able to shoot your Taurus suppressed with the correct equipment.

There is an NFA section on TGO which you should visit.

It includes a list of Class III dealers in the area what would be happy to help you.

If you have further questions, I am happy to help you.

We have plenty of this stuff in stock for you to touch which should help you with the selection process.

So, basicly, adding a large suppressor will not effect the normal operation of the pistol, yes? I understand about the threaded barrel. But for some reason I thought the extra weight would case the barrel to rub on the slide causing a faulty re-cocking action.

Thanks for your help!

If the barrel is designed properly, there should be ample room between the end of the suppressor and the front face of the slide. I'd discuss this more with one of our Class III vendors (like Joe) and make sure that you're buying a combination that they know works well with your firearm.

I think what he is asking is would the added weight of the suppressor weigh the barrel down enough that when the slide cycles would it cause extra wear on the underside of the barrel.

I really hope that wasn't the question for reasons that should be extremely obvious to anyone who's ever really taken the time to cycle a semi-automatic firearm by hand and watch how the pieces interact with one another. :D
