Dillon 750XL

Got my Dillon 750XL set up, I placed a bid on Ebay last month and took a chance and won it, I got a good deal on it considering the prices lately. It came with a 9mm Conversion kit so I ordered a 45acp Caliber Conversion kit from Dillon right after I purchased my press and received it in a week along with a spare parts kit. Last Friday night I ordered a Case Feeder for it and it shipped today and should be here this week, that surprised me cause it showed it was on back order. I got the press mounted on an Inline Fabrication JR Mount the other day and waiting for the rest of the stuff to get here. So hopefully I can start reloading 45acp next week. Here are a couple of pics of it mounted on my bench. I'll post some more when everything else arrives this week.20210308_065035.thumb.jpg.9c331dd328378e78a6ead778cad25dd2.jpg20210308_065058.thumb.jpg.807c77ee9554d6cab34d5f5b2ffcb21c.jpg20210308_065113.thumb.jpg.30bc8fb297845d9f2c26108b06f9b736.jpg

I've been pulling the handle on a 550 for over 10 years without a hitch. Don't call Dillon for advise, they will keep you on the phone forever. Great customer service. I also have a 650, just don't have it set up yet. Congratulations on the 750!!

I used a 550 also for the last 10yrs. probably loaded over 80,000 rnds on it over the years. I figured it was time to upgrade, I still have about 30,000 45acp to load up to finish what I have in my inventory, so I figured I could make quick work of those with this loader.

My advice after loading for 30+ years.  Purchase a led light that mounts in the center hole of the tool head.  It will help greatly with visual inspection.

Excellent advice.  Probably the best accessory I've added to my 650.  I also have a LED strip on the inside of the frame.  Can't get too much light for older eyes.

I also will recommend installing a roller handle.  That ball grip gets tiresome very quickly.

Yeah I got a Led light mounted on it, got a few more accessories in, and coming from Dillon and others I've bought from. Got a new Primer Catcher, some easy tabs to remove the pins, my fat fingers will appreciate that. I ran into a little problem when I set up the dies, the Sizer-Primer DE Capping Die, some how the pin that punches the primer out got loose when I was setting up the others and it bent the pin and the holder. Emailed Redding and they are supposed to mail me a new one along with extra pins for free, so we'll see if they do. Case Feeder is supposed to be here today or tomorrow, along with the other stuff I ordered. More pics when I get it put together, and the roller handle is great.

Installed a few more parts on it this afternoon. A Mini MR. Bullet Feeder( the one you load and turn by hand) it holds 100 bullets, works great so far with the trial run. Installed a new primer chute and it actually works great. Still have some tweaks to make and a few more parts that I want, oh the Case Feeder will be here hopefully tomorrow or Saturday can't wait to hook it up. Here are a few more pics.20210311_132808.thumb.jpg.f7c2ea120711e3ce316733088ffaa19c.jpg20210311_144719.thumb.jpg.8e007bd77e65e027159db05c1269a4f6.jpg20210311_144738.thumb.jpg.4ac35b6bc3e21707f1d4c34e627d6c96.jpg20210311_144812.thumb.jpg.b99e9342fa42264a04140877151c26c4.jpg20210311_150036.thumb.jpg.7e0f920291ff08627979b1d990e29d7e.jpg20210311_150043.thumb.jpg.ac0eac1a66228ad39c2d64a7286a2342.jpg

Good looking setup. Nothing beats a Dillon - been cranking out rounds on my 550 for 17 years and its still going strong. Dillon has a great warranty - my D-terminator digital scale lost part of it's LED readout and they sent me a new one pronto. Haven't been able to wear out anything else of theirs.

I can think of more things to spend $10,000.00 on and it won't be a reloading press. They look good, but I'll stay with what I have.

That's fully loaded. About 3k set up like a 650.

Whew, while nice Dillon is certainly more in line with my working class budget.

iirc I invested around $300.00 in my Dillon 550 back around '89 or so. It's still going strong and Dillion did an inspection, cleaning, and parts replacement several years ago. Just cost me the shipping. And they've replaced parts along the way as needed. I certainly consider my Dillon a value purchase and investment. 🙂

Nice setup @DJTC45👍

I don’t know.  When the Dillon first came out, they said a1000 pounds per hour.  Now, everyone knows than’s  unrealistic.  But it will chug along a a reasonable rate.  Stoppages are common for us who use mil brass.  I like the idea of removing the stoppage  before  more major problems arise.  I go slow to make sure everything is as it should be.  One evening of reloading will give you more rounds than you can shoot.  Plus, this new machine will not reload .30-06, my favorite.

Got my Case Feeder in this morning, got it mounted and set up, works great, also hooked up my led light. I decided to go old school on my powder measure, I removed the powder measure rod and installed two springs around the powder hopper like the old style, works smoother than the rod. I did that so I could change the angle of the powder hopper to work with the Mini MR. Bullet Feeder and my low  prime alert. Ran a dry run without powder and it functions fine, tomorrow I'm going to load some W231 in the hopper and check and see if it is still set for 5.4grns since I had to move everything around a bit to clear and function. Got the dies all set and adjusted for sizing, bullet depth and crimping, Here's some pics still have a few more tweaks to make but should be ready to start reloading. I've got 30,000 left to finish off what I have in my inventory of 200grn SWC.20210312_160130.thumb.jpg.87f95ca43c5810b6cce5fe39fc1202d2.jpg20210312_160144.thumb.jpg.2b15afa76efaa4501ceebb0bdd3ff893.jpg20210312_160159.thumb.jpg.3410c9b53590ad94bf96c24a25369f88.jpg20210312_160208.thumb.jpg.04ca40fedb3abff9d39d2e643d336fe0.jpg20210312_160228.thumb.jpg.1c3a6aa5c666a35f3d05b2c341f76507.jpg20210312_160349.thumb.jpg.4cd4fcdbc4c7cfeb809bf29c37d2c3c9.jpg20210312_160357.thumb.jpg.a2129f9a083c7a0362fab814a89b5e17.jpg

Got my dies adjusted, put on a few more accessories. Tomorrow going to dump some powder in the hopper and set my grain throw for 5.4grns of W231. When that's done I'll start to finish loading up my 45's. Can't wait to run this one, I've always wanted a auto index, even after I bought my 550, which was and is a good press, especially when starting out.
