Selling and shipping a gun out of state, I have questions!

OK, I have a guy wanting to buy a long gun from me out of state. He has a FFL dealer to receive the gun.

I just need to know what dealer local to the Boro or Hermitage will ship this gun for me and how much the charge will be.

The buyer is paying the shipping and charges via sending payment to me after I get a quote.

Thanks for the help!

John :)

Oh, and do I have to ship the gun from a FFL dealer, or can I just ship it myself?

No, you do not have to ship it FROM an FFL, just TO an FFL, however it is generally much cheaper and easier to have an FFL ship it for you.

How much do you think the dealer will charge me for doing this?

Some FFLs will accept a gun from a private individual, some will not. Check with the FFL you'll be shipping the rifle to.

He says he has a FFL dealer that will accept it.

Thanks for the quick help, all! :)

Thats one of those things you'll just have to shop around for. Some will do it for the price of shipping, some will do it for the price of shipping plus a fee of varying amounts.

You can ship a rifle yourself without an FFL via UPS ground or air, and Fedex too....you just have to take it to one of their staffed customer service centers. UPS ground is cheapest. I wouldn't use an FFL, it will cost you more. And yes, you do need to make sure the FFL that you're shipping to will accept a shipped rifle from an individual. Most of them will. I recently sold a rifle on GunBroker, so I had to find all this out for myself not too long ago.

Rifles can go USPS as well.
