Walther has done an amazing job with their triggers since the P99 days.  At the time, the trigger on my old P99 AS was probably the best non-1911 trigger I had ever felt.

Their customer service seems top notch also. I recently picked up a used PPS to give to my dad and found out it had an open recall. They sent me a label and I shipped it back to Arkansas. I think they had it back to my door in 10-12 days. The entire process was very easy.

My dry fire session tonight started with this.  Took about five minutes to clear.  If I start carrying one of these, I guess I’ll put it in the fridge before dry firing to condition myself against a WTH moment when I draw on a vice lord with a fogged up dot.

I've never had a problem with an optic fogging, even on open-emitter designs like the RMR.  I do put Cat Crap brand anti-fog on my lenses, same as I do my prescription glasses, but I also think the fact that the optic stays relatively warm while carried against my body helps as well.

Even still, these days I find myself gravitating toward the closed-emitter designs like the Holosun 509T for a variety of reasons - antifogging being one of them.  You might give them a spin if you get serious about the Dot Life.

I am switching to Carry Optics division in USPSA and went out to the garage tonight to do some dry fire and got this.  I posted earlier in this or another thread about dots fogging up when going from cool indoors to hot humid outdoors.  Someone pointed out that iron sights can get bent, broken, etc and that’s true, but that would be due to neglect, mechanical failure, etc.  A fogged up dot is due to environmental conditions and will probably happen repeatedly under the same circumstances.  I believe Rain-x used to make some anti-fog that supposedly worked and I may experiment with it, but I am definitely not ready to start carrying one of these.

Well that kinda sucks. Guess in a defensive situation you could just piss on it to clear the fog off?  😜

I have a friend who also says carrying a dot gun IWB keeps the dot warm and prevents fogging.  I plan to experiment with this.  Fogged up or not, the dot still works if using both eyes.  However, the sight picture is way different and the potential delay in sorting it out is what has me concerned.

Chuck mentioned Cat Crap the other day and I didn’t initially realize it was an actual product.  I thought Chuck was just being Chuck lol

Nope, I was serious. It’s an actual product. 😂😂😂

That said, I’ve never had the fogging issues you have. I don’t know what’s causing them, but I do carry AIWB as well.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cat Crap is probably the best of the anti fog products.  There's a product for divers that works well, too - but I don't have my dive bag handy.

Letting it "cure" is key - as is reapplying on a semi-regular basis.  I've no idea what that interval might be for an optic on a pistol.

Yep I saw the link you posted and meant to order some the other day, but forgot about it.  I’ll add that to today’s to-do list.

I've noticed more cops are starting to put these optics on their duty guns. I wonder which optic they are picking the most as I haven't been able to tell in the videos.

I feel pretty safe in saying that they’re almost all getting RMRs.

Just saw this, on WBIR's Website.  A Knox County Deputy is using a RMR on his pistol.

https://www.wbir.com/article/news/crime/knoxville-i-40-shootout-dash-and-body-camera-video-investigation/51-c03f6002-fec1-4080-ab66-9c52d5bfcde4

This is an excellent report.  And I am very impressed with the THP, Knox County Sherriff's Department and Knoxville City Police.  After the shootout, they were working hard to save the life of a man that had just participated in a gun battle with them.  They were compassionate and very much interested in saving his life. Not so sure I could have been in that frame of mind.

My wife was a few blocks away from this shooting when it happened, having drinks with a friend. Everyone on the patio ran inside and hid. That video was wild.

You'll like it once you get used to it. That's the same optic I have on my Staccato P DPO that I carry daily.

Getting used to it will be straightforward.  Trusting it will not.  It’s already fogged up once when I went from the house to the garage on a muggy night.  I put some of Chuck’s Cat Crap cleaner on it (and the DPP in the other pic), but haven’t had either one in any suddenly humid conditions yet.

IMO, it's a good idea for everyone who carries a RDS equipped CCW to practice occluded eye shooting so that you will be able to go right to that mode if you ever find it necessary.    Blue painter's masking tape on the lens lets you see the dot without seeing the target.
