Was at my local country hardware store yesterday to purchase a hand held grass seed sower. They had one left on the shelf. They told me that when they sold something, most times, it cost more, than what they retail a product for, to replace it on the shelf when they ordered another one to replace it. Yes, it is hard for a mom and pop store to stay open. This man's dad started this store 60 years ago and it is a typical old country store.

I recently purchased a small Bosch air compressor, to run my nail gun, and noticed they had another just like the one I purchased back on the shelf. The new one, in the store, was priced 28.00 more than the one I purchased 3 weeks ago. Steve told me the compressor went up that much in 3 months.

Compare this to ammo price increases. I'd venture to guess I have, "Not Bragging", $12,000.00 in ammo value, not including the reloading components, in my 3 cheap ammo safes, with todays prices. I, for sure, don't have that much money in it, when I purchased it. My practice 9MM W W box was purchased at Wal Mart for around 12-14.00 per hundred, 38 Spl WWB $19.00-21.00 per hundred, and self defense was 20.00 per 20 pack and 29.00 per 50 round boxes of Golden Saber. My DPX 357 was purchased form Cor Bon at 40.00 per 20 before Pie lost the brand. This was at a steep price, but I am sure glad I purchased 200 rounds of that at that time. That is my EDC ammo in my 7 shot snubbie.

I can't begin to imagine what it is like to be in a small store this day in time.

I believe now more than ever its important to support the local small guy establishments with your business. Do your research online, but buy local! I feel rather satisfied paying (marginally) more for a purchase made there than at a big box store. Same goes for eating out. Darden brands will be just fine... Joe's Pizza could use some new customers.
