Tires

I'm actually putting a new set of tires on my wife's car tomorrow. I hope that they actually last the 70k that they claim to be rated for. That'd last her about 3 years once the COVID lock-downs are over.

I just put tires on the minivan again. The prior 2 sets of 80k rated Coopers didn't make it to 50k. They got rotated every 5k and never dropped more than about 3psi below the set point. Time will tell if these Continentals fair any better.

Some cars are much harder on tires than others. Depends on the factory alignment, how much time you spend driving around parking lots, front/rear weight bias, air pressure, rotations, lots of things...

Same. I had a set of 60-70K Michelin tires that only lasted 40K. I filed a warranty claim with Michelin and got a prorated replacement set. Now these are dry rotted after 3 years. Even the tire salesman said he's having to constantly file claims for Michelin. I'll never buy another set of their tires again.

A counterpoint - in May of 2017 I put the first set of Michelin tires I've ever owned on my truck (2014 Ram 1500 4wd).  I'm now at 83k miles, I'll probably put another set just like them on at 90k.  Far and away the best I've run ...

Was I the Defender? Those are supposed to last forever from what I hear.

LTX AT/2.  My truck uses the 275/60R20 size.  They give good traction for the type of driving I do, which is over the road/highway/city driving.  In addition to the outstanding wear, they have been a good riding and driving tire.  I was always too cheap to buy Michelins in the past, now I'm a convert after this set ...

I have only had one set of 18in Michelins AT/2 and they are not the 10ply variety but they will sling mud like you wouldn't believe. A well designed tire that rides smooth and quiet
