Montana elk and deer hunting?

I have an opportunity to hunt 2000 acres of private land in Montana. This kinda fell in my lap. I'm just starting to do the research. Anyone hunted Montana? What's the elk hunting like?

Not sure what the hunting is like there but Elk is fantastic to eat.

Lucky! Very jealous. Never hunted Montana but it's supposed to be spectacular.

Looks like outfitters operate in the area we'll be in. It also appears that we can get a late season combo hunt. They do have grizzlies. We're probably going to fly out a few months early and check out everything.

What area of the state are you going to?

I lived there for a while and my wife is from there, I love it.

Between Butte and Bozeman. The property has a river it's entire lingth on one side. We still have to get the plot number so we can get the exact border.

That’s a beautiful area, in fact was out in Yellowstone last October. 
I haven’t hunted in that area, we lived Further northwest in Libby.

Start walking and get in decent shape. You are going to a higher altitude and being in good shape helps. When you leave to hunt, go a couple days early to get used to the thinner air.  I went to Colorado a few years ago thinking I was in decent shape. Didn't take long to realize I was fooling myself. Take a gps as it's easy to get turned around there.
