I am trying to determine the age and value of this revolver... after days of hunting on the internet I thought I might find the answers here / possibly from someone who has purchased this model new.

Thanks, Derrick

What you have is your basic Colt "D" frame revolver. The Cobra is a lightweight, alloy framed version of the classic Detective Special. Your's appears to be a 1st Issue revolver made between 1950-72. We would need the serial number to find the exact year of manufacture.

The .32 Colt New Police cartridge is the exact same round as the .32 S&W Long. The only difference being that Colt loaded it with a flat point bullet where S&W used a round nose. You can shoot .32 S&W Long ammo in that no problem.

The Colt "D" frames have always been popular and the lightweights even more so. However, the .32 caliber will detract a bit from its value. Those grips don't help much either.  I'd guess that to be about a $500-550 gun.

Edit: Just saw where you added a pic with the serial #. Your gun was made in 1966. Further research indicates a factory original nickle finish.
