Old school cool!

I bought this at a gun show a few years back. It came with a set of stag grips. I finally located original style grips for it. This was no easy feat. In case anyone isn't familiar, this is a Smith and Wesson Heavy Frame Target Model, also referred to as a Bekeart Model.  I'm not sure the year of manufacture, but it is roughly 100 years old, and chambered for 22 Long Rifle. I've always wanted one of these, but never thought i'd actually have one.

These are referred to as Heavy frame although they are a light and dainty revolver. At the time, Smith and Wesson also made a smaller, lighter "M" frame which was also called the Lady Smith. I would love to find one of those.

I have not fired it, but probably will at some point. They aren’t made for high velocity ammo, so standard velocity target loads it is.

I have not. I’ve never had one lettered. If it hasn’t been refinished, it is in really good shape. If it has been refinished, it was done by someone who knows how to do it correctly.

Jinks won't be around forever. I would do it now. Bet it costs less than the grips did. lol

No doubt about all that.  Jinks is getting on up there.  Gotta be in his 80’s at least.

Very nice!  That would be an "I" frame which is slightly smaller than the "J" most of us are familiar with.  The finish looks totally righteous to me.  I doubt its been refinished.  

SCSW only lists serial numbers as 160000-536684 for years 1911 to 1941. It does mention that serial numbers 384XXX were reached by 1923. You'd need a letter to get any closer than that. 

I have long lusted after a Model 35 which is the modern day equivalent  to your revolver. But alas, so far no luck.

I really like the old models of  S W Revolvers. My favorite is what we now know as the mdl 10.  They fit my med size hands well, and feel great in my hands.

Good for you, Greg.  I think as long as they are sound, old guns should be shot occasionally.  Heck, I have old ones from WWI & WWII (ie. M1 Garand, Mosin-Nagant, Mauser, 1911's) and some even older that I pull out once in a while to fire.  I have given some friends and acquaintances great memories by letting them fire a classic.
