Midsouth almost no bullets

Hi guys, on a whim I went to Midsouth shooters supply and looked at in stock pistol bullets. They had exactly 4 choices, 2-32 caliber and 2-50 caliber. It is pretty bad when I have more bullets than the supply house that I usually buy my bullets from do. Sad, sad days!!

I have never seen reloading supplies as hard to get as this time-even things like dies and press parts.

Makes less and less sense daily-very much hysteria out there.

I'm seeing bullets online. Extreme has had a good selection. Looks to me like primers are mostly not available.

I talked to a guy today when I was looking and he basically said there is more profit for the manufacturers to sell assembled rounds than selling components so there are less reloading supplies out there.  Another guy said with the high demand for rounds, there's not a lot of excess to sell for reloading.  If either or both of those are correct, the shortage makes sense (excluding hoarders/flippers)

Time to pull out the lead and casting pot.

Been doing that for a few years now myself, just some of what I cast.

For those needing dies, I bought a set directly from RCBS when I couldn't find them anywhere. Just an FYI.

Red that is a nice set up for sure. Isn't it nice to make, load and shoot your own bullet creations!!

To cast, powder coat, processes brass, reload, test, reload a for a gun is a LOT of work. you dad-burn right, it is nice, I have not worried about ammo for a good bit now. I have just got into the 223, 556 caliber in the past year. That is the one caliber I do not cast or reload for. We do have a good bit of factory ammo, like most, just want more. LOL

Red, what are the bullets in the first pic? Also is that a custom hammer in that pic too?

Lyman 525 gran slugs, custom hammer, yes, a group buy. I supplied the lead for the group, got 2 hammers out of the deal.

I bought a mold for the hammers, got two handles for it that look very similar to yours.

I knew the casted bullets looked pretty big. I thought shotgun slugs. Yeah. the hammer handle really looks like something turned on a lathe. I've done a couple like that.

No, I have turned wood bats for that. The lead hammer is used to move things I do not want to mark or mar up.
