Who's going to pony up and try it out???

I was in my LGS yesterday to purchase a new Taurus TX22.  While waiting on the TICS to go through, I noticed a new SCCY Pistol with a RD on it.  Before I could ask to see to see it, the TICS was completed and my mind went SQUIRREL and I was headed home with my new purchase (which I am very impressed with, BTW, but have not shot it yet).  Last night, I did a little research on the SCCY RD and found out they released a new striker fired pistol, called the DVG-1 and it comes with a CT Red Dot, with motion activated On (no button to push) and a battery life of 20K hours. MSRP is $389, but if my failing memory serves me correctly, this was about $299.

So who has one or is willing to pony up for one and give us a review? Don't be shy!  I know some of you actually own a SCCY pistol.  I can't find a range report anywhere on the internet! Just a bunch of Shotshow reviews and SCCY promotional views, one of which I have attached?  I may very well go put it in lay-a-way later this week.  But no way i am bring it home any time soon.  I've bought too many this year as it is and I actually like being married. 🙂

Been thinking the same thing. Saw these in a gunstore in Dickson last summer and was wondering how good the package could be for that price.

My Holosun 507K cost that much on its own.

Give a report on the TX22. I almost went with that before I went with the Ruger SR22. I really like how the SR22 shoots.

Maybe next Saturday, if the weather cooperates.

If you know the lineage of SCCY they are high quality and dependable. I have a Kel Tec P32 and it goes with me everywhere with no concern for failure. Correct me if I'm wrong guys but same designer.

My guess is that what you saw was a CPX-1RD or CPX-2RD (DAO) pistol. The DVG-1 and DVG-1RD (striker) seems to be made of unobtainium at this point.

I’ll let you know. I’m going back to check it out. If it’s the DVG-1RD, it’s going in lay-a-way.

I saw one(Yes it was a verified DVG-1. I was actually waiting to grab it.) in the hands of a person that had absolutely no business buying one Saturday. Yes, that's a very harsh statement to make. But after about 15 minutes of hold and waving it around, then buying it, paying 40 bucks for a box of 115 gr; the lady tried to load it in the shop so she could put in her purse before going outside. You had to be there! I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or just run away from her.

I'll be interest in hearing the sales figures for 1/1 thru 1/20. It should be record breaking.

Academy Sports in Cool Springs south of Nashville had at least one SCCY in stock (or at least in the case) last Friday.

I will probably head there tomorrow to see if they got an ammo shipment and I will see what it was I saw.

No go at Academy sports this morning on the SCCY. They did have a little bit of 9 mm and some 38 special but it’s probably all gone by now.

Now I’m intrigued and want to actually hold one.

To me, they feel like the old Kel-tec PF9. I owned one of them for a very short while. It was brutal to shoot. I ran one mag and sold it as fast as I could. jmo

Hopefully the SKYY will be better.

I got a CPX-2 and like it. Hard kicking because of the light weight but, a good shooting little gun. I wish SCCY would make a mid or full size gun.

You were correct,  They were super busy, so I didn't ask to see it.  I will wait on the DVG1-RD.

One thing SCCY does have going for it, is the weight. It's 2 oz lighter than my Ruger LC9S Pro that's my daily carry and only 1 oz more than my S&W 442, that I carry when I hike.  And it's 10 rounds vs, 7/9 and 5. Not real keen on the trigger though on the CPX2.  I think Galloway Precision makes a trigger kit for it, though.

I don't see a kit from Galloway listed.  But there is a spring kit from Mcarbo that supposed to drop the pull from around 7 to about 4 (give or take one pound):

I doubt it does anything for the long trigger pull though.

Galloway Precision have videos out there for them.

That is why I only have 3 lightweight pistols, one .22 one in .25 acp and one in .32 acp

the 22 is Ruger SR22, mid size, lightweight, just a joy to shoot. The SCCY in .380 should be manageable.
