Scary new trends with teens - Social Media case

I really have this trend is a very very low number. But essentially, the article indicates that the desire to get followers on social media has some teens doing some potentially dangerous things. Putting information in new clothing at stores in hopes the buyer stalks checks them out on social media

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/teens-putting-social-media-pants-070051165.html

So this brings up 3 questions to me:

1. Is the reporting media doing something even worse by putting this out there for pedo's to see? Seems a bit irresponsible if not potentially criminal, though it can make parents aware (assuming they could effect it anyway)

2. Is this a bait item used by the 5-0 to draw out the pedo's above?? THIS... I really hope this. If not, they should!

3*. Most importantly - it helps cement the case for having MSM be considered a major health crisis / epidemic based on other really bad behaviors it promotes (licking toilets,  licking ice cream in grocery stores, live casting suicide attempts, etc)

* If its deemed this is a banned political item, please edit it out. Not my intent to cause a ruckus as I have no idea what happened to cause the recent changes.

The things kids do for likes, follows, etc. includes examples that are far more provocative, revealing and potentially dangerous than what is discussed in this article.  It's also been going on for years.  By the time most of the adult world, and media outlets discover a trend among young people, its usually old news ...

No doubt. Too many examples to list. And yet everyone seems complacent with it because of their addiction to the shinier parts they like. I imagine as long as folks just go along with it why expect much else. All good, other peoples kids are a kind of a pain in the butt anyway 😄

As a father to3, one a teenage girl, I find the hair on my neck starts to stand up when I see some of this Pedo stuff... that being said, I don't get that vibe here.

Kids are stupid and we all know the lengths they will go to feel special, popular, accepted, etc. The number of followers you have is like notches on your bed post, its how kids rank each other. It doesn't matter that you don't actually KNOW any of these people, or if they are real, or even exist! They just want to quote a number that is high enough.

So.... Vista Print sends you 1k biz cards for 25 bucks, or you whip them off on your home computer, and litter the 'popular' stores with them.

If that person has questionable subject matter on their site, I think thats unrelated to this attempt at garnering followers... they may try to use sexuality to attract followers, but the note-in-the-pocket thing seems innocent by itself. Heck, I still have free pens from that damned check cashing place. Marketing takes many forms.
