Snow here in Sparta.

About 4" in murvul.  Power was out for about 2 hrs last night and then blinked off several more times until about 3am. Very thankful for the guys out working in the snow early Christmas morning to fix it.

got 5ish inches in Johnson City...drove from Knoxville back home left Knoxville about 4:45 snow already sticking on all the roads, took almost 4 hours.

An inch maybe out here in Kingston. Cold.... hope the well doesn't freeze!

And moved to a region with totally unpredictable weather.  

In all fairness, the weather people called this several days ago.

I'd say you left NY to get away from a lot more than snow

At least down here the snow only stays on the ground for a few days to a week. Some years in NY we didn't see the ground from before Thanksgiving till March and the piles finally went away in April or May.

My only surprise was when they talked about more snow at higher elevations that the 300' we are up on the side of the mountain can make a difference of 2 or 3" of snow from a mile away. A neighbor that now lives about 200 feet lower than us use to live about 300 feet further up and he said that would make another 2-3" of difference.

I remember people asking about 'the snow' when I first moved down here:

You don't even SEE your lawn from Dec. to March. Sometimes April.
