I have a windows 10 computer and laptop, neither with a USB C port.  My ipad Pro and a few other devices I have use USB C.  Currently i connect them to my PC with a cable that has the old style USB plug on on end and USB C on the other.  I can transfer data this was but charging doesn't seem to work.  I wanted to get a USB hub that connects to my PC via the old style USB but first, I cant find one, and second, Im guessing it wont work.  Anybody have any ideas for a solution?

sounds like power share may need to be turned on.  Will it charge or power non USBc devices? Also there is a usb powered hub you can get that should work as well.  Will it charge your non usbc phone?

something like this.   I wonder if power share has been turned on in the Bios.  WHat make is the laptop?

The laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad.  Its from work so i have little control; over settings.  So you think I just need to get a ac powered USB HUB?  Do you know if they make one that has USB C outlets and USB A connection to the desktop?

The way these work are the standard usb connection goes to your PC and then you take a standard usb cable to usb c Something like this.  The port itself will go from the port to your PC through standard usb.

Apple has them on their website. But they don’t mention charging from a PC; only from a MAC laptop. Could be they are proprietary. Maybe email them and ask?

If USB powershare is off nothing will charge.  Here is an adapter though.  Im not suire if my iphone will charge off of my computer either.  I have a USB to USB c cable.  Ill give it a go and see.  I have never tried it.

Also if there are multiple USB ports on your machine you will need to look for the one with the lightning bolt.  That one will charge.  It has power share turned on by default.

My HP desktop has no lighting bolt next to any of the usb A ports, at least on the top and front.  Cant get to the ones on the back.

Yea that hub will fix all of that because it has its own power source... let me research some more and see.  Do you know if your computer will charge a non apple product if it is plugged in?
