Any coyote hunters on here?

They are very responsive this time of year! Every Stand is different but generally I give howling a chance a few times to try to get a response and then will go into prey distress if the vocals don't get any traction. Cottontail and woodpecker are both good to try and if you get a response with the howling but nothing rolls in, vole squeaks can often times coax them in. if that doesn't work you can try some pup distress before leaving the stand. What call are you using?

I used a mouth call years ago. i haven't tried any calling in a long time. The call was a Johnny Stewart cotton tail. I bought a Six shooter electronic awhile back. I know a cheap call but, has good volume.

They will focus on the source of the sound and they are master at doing it. If you’re using an ecaller they should focus on that as long as you’re being still and have kept the wind right.

It's not legal in Tennessee, but I've hunted them at night in states where it's is. It's a completely different world.

I've shot a bunch while deer hunting, but haven't had much success calling them.

Yeah, me too. I've not tried calling in a long time. I went one morning years ago and called in 2 hawks, a flock of crows and 1 owl. Wow.

I’ve got a thermal for hogs and yotes when I’m in FL and it’s fun but I enjoy hunting yotes in the day better.

You don’t have a coyote call. What you have is a bird call!🤣

I like it and I’m rigged out pretty good. electronic call with a remote  and a decoy. I hide the call and set the decoy a couple of feet away from it. I think it helps. Especially with younger yotes that have no call experience. sometimes they run right in. I usually hunt from the raised field stands on my lease. They don’t ever look up at them it seems.

Here’s something else I’ve wanted to try but haven’t yet. I have an Excalibur crossbow with a pretty nice scope on it that is amazingly accurate out to 35 or maybe even 40 yards or so on a calm day. I’ve wanted to try it on yotes from these comfy lease stands. This bow will put arrows in a 1” circle shooting from a rigid rest. I’ve watched some YouTube video’s of guys shooting yotes from their deer stands with bolts and they are effective for sure. The strange thing is, sometimes when multiple yotes come to the call, they won’t run off since there’s no gunshot and will actually almost attack the wounded yote until it dies giving you multiple chances to shoot the others.
