Wife took the HCP class today

Six months ago my wife had never fired a pistol. Then she started going to the range with me and shooting. Today she took her HCP class and tomorrow she is off to the DMV and then to get fingerprinted. I am very proud of her. I think she sees now that having the option to carry is a good thing in the world we now live in. Almost 25% of her class today were women. Now the wait begins.

Excellent- good for her!

I wish my wife wasn't so scared of guns. It's been a hard sell so far, to get her to come to the range with me.

That's good to hear. I wish my girlfriend would go. She's not against it, but she doesn't want to go by herself.

Congrats to your better half.

Well go with her.

My wife didn't want to go alone either, so I went and "sat in" on the class since I already had my permit. It didn't cost anything for me and she finally went and got her permit. Now if I could get her to carry.:D

She took the Class at Gunneys in Maryville. She really enjoyed it. She said there were 30 in her class. Interest in getting your HCP has really gone up recenly. Classes fill up fast.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, but that dreaded video.:D

I have a good female friend who's been thinking about getting her HCP, so maybe they will go together.

Now that ain't no excuse, look at all the STD videos they made us watch in the military.:D Show her you care and go with her. shoot maybe the range officers will welcome an extra pair of hands and eyes once on the range.:)

You got to watch videos??!! We had death by powerpoint for two weeks. It was horrible.

My GF already has the money set aside to take her class and pay for the permit. Had it for about 6 months now and still has a year to go. It's also turned into her gun money pool, lol. She's got a lot of saving to do though. She wants a WC Sentinel Compact....

I wish I could afford that gun. :(:(:bat:

Well... my wife went today to the DMV and then fingerprinted. So now it is time to wait. So after finishing up this morning she went to have lunch with a friend who asked her " You are not going to have that gun in the car when we go out to eat are you?" I told her she needs some new friends. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE? Do they really believe that you are putting them in danger because you are armed. Most of here friends are retired school teachers. These are not stupid people. They just don't see the need to carry. The thing that really makes me mad is the fact that my wife will probably NOT carry because of their feelings about it. At least not around them. Oh well......just had to vent a little.

Congrats to you both. I'm workin on my wife too. I would love for her to carry I think once she gets more comfortable with handguns in general she will. She like many people is intimidated by the mere sight of a firearm, but that changes with experience, just need that range time, can't seem to get it done.

For anyone like me who has a wife on the fence about carry please look into the Kimber Pepper Blaster it is an awsome OC option IMHO. Should not be too hard to convince her to carry that plus at around $35 a very affordable way to give her options in case God forbid she ever needs some.
