OH CRAP!

I made my monthly grocery run today. Much to my surprise, both Sam's and Kroger were nearly out of toilet paper.  Very little of only two cheap brands on the shelves. 😲 When did this start again and WHY? It was pointless the first time around. I swear 2020 is just getting stupider by the day. 🙄

Yep. Costco in Farragut has had a 1 per customer on toilet paper and paper towels for last 3 or 4 weeks. Just before that saw several with buggies loaded down.

Cases have risen so fear of impending lock down is back.

Be thankful we live in a free state: (At least for now)

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on Wednesday issued new coronavirus lockdown restrictions as cases in the city continue to reach record highs.

The order, effective immediately, requires all city residents to stay home, unless engaging in a list of essential activities, and all businesses to cease operations.

Public transportation and gatherings are prohibited with the exception of gatherings for outdoor religious services and outdoor protests with social distancing and face masks.

Meanwhile in NYC:

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Tension was high Wednesday night near a Staten Island bar, as patrons protested after a manager was arrested the night before for refusing to comply with the state’s coronavirus pandemic orange zone restrictions.

Chopper 2 flew over what looked like a block party in Grant City, but instead it was a large protest. Hundreds of people stood shoulder-to-shoulder with American flags and political signs, demonstrating in front of New York City Sheriff’s officers who were guarding the front door of Mac’s Public House, which is owned by Keith McAlarney.

Kevin Smith was mixed in with the group of supporters, voicing his concerns of why he believes this enforcement is wrong.

“There’s people doing heroin and defecating on the subway, and I think that spreads the virus a lot more than some people having a drink on Staten Island,” Smith told CBS2’s Cory James.

for last 3 or 4 weeks

Sounds about right.  Maybe detected by some levels of the supply chain a little earlier.  Our family members that work in retail mentioned it was happening again about then.  Also mentioned the shortage of aluminum for cans that is limiting some canned drink purchases.

Yeah it’s been at least a month since I started catching wind it was happening again. I’ve been accused of hoarding by people I work with who are now complaining about it.
Bought plenty of TP, paper towels, and all the other stuff that I need when the shelves were stocked full. I also remember there being plenty left behind me and TOLD them all this was coming again.

I like to think that if my real reason for stocking up is preparation and general unwillingness to search for TP, then I’m merely prepared and not a hoarder.

I won't run out of TP.  I'm OK with being called a hoarder ...

I'm a bordline hoarder. I admit it. I come from a family that believed in having a reasonable supply on hand of anything you use on a regular basis.

Foods, canned goods, laundry supplies, toothpaste and toothbrushes and bar soaps(you should see my bathroom closet...LOL!). I was taught at an early age that you take advantage of specials and keep items on hand.

I've tried to apply that to all things in my life. I have a decent supply of most things, not what I'd like to have, but not enough storage space.

Hoarder? Prepper? Who cares? I wear either name badge proudly and thank my Mother for raising me to do this.

I think I do it mostly because I hate shopping.  I did used to get some strange looks at the checkout counter at Wallyworld when I showed up with a dozen tubes of toothpaste.  Since discovering Amazon, and now that I finally figured out how to do online curbside pickup, I haven't actually set foot in a store since last February.  Barring some sort of internet meltdown, I will never again walk into a Walmart ...

Since WallyWorld is right across the street from the Medical Center offices the wife and I have all our docs in...I do tend to go in at times.

I'll get 5/6 tubes of toothpaste, same on toothbrushes, a couple 8 bar packs of soap, and 3 or 4 cans of shaving cream. That's pretty much a routine for me on a monthly basis.

Also try for alcohol and ear swabs. I'm paranoid of running out of these. lol

Need to start adding some razor cartridges again. I'm getting low on them.

Many years ago when we first got married, my wife and I ran out of TP once. My wife swore it would never happen again. Since then we have always kept a hoarder size supply on hand. I still do. I got through the first shortage just fine and I'll get through this one too. 😉

This is why I installed bidets in all of our toilets. 🙂

I did a few years ago, as a Christmas gift to my wife, we have saved A LOT of the stuff.

My wife would use one to drown me if I told her it was her Christmas gift.

Seen the same think here, Oddly on a recent Dollar General stop almost all the paper towels were gone, but the TP was full. I have bought more than we used to keep of both, but it is mostly due to storage space. Also humans survived a long time without either, so I am not too worried about it. People need to worry m9re about stocks of food. I see people rushing to buy TP that I know have less than a week of food MAX.

Very true, at one time people lived without Charmin, Bounty, etc.  They also had no air conditioning.  I'm glad I wasn't alive then ...

Just wait one day it will be food, ammo and toilet paper.

We are at 2 out of 3 now, when it is food the "ZAMBES" will come out from the city to look for food to feed on.

As long as you got ammo, you can get the other two.

True that, but this being the most well fed nation on the planet, some folks might be better off missing a meal or two.

Well the ammo and T.P. are about gone, food is the next for sure.

Kroger must have sent all their TP to Knoxville judging from what I saw today.  We are blessed with #### tickets.  Might have to go back tomorrow and hoard some.
