Pigeon Problem

I feed birds. Enjoyed it for years now. Last week a solid white pigeon came to eat at our feeders. It is beautiful to look at and not scared of us walking outside at all. It is almost like it is tame. It has not left since appearing at "Reed Manor." 

Problem is, the bird is roosting on our bedroom widow ledge. I just went out and removed a lot of pigeon poop that the bird dropped on the brick window ledge. Disgusting!  I put up a piece of cardboard and duct taped it to the window.  Sure hope that cures my problem.  It is out there eating right now. My wife loves it and looks for it every meal we eat at our kitchen table. I sure hope it finds another roosting spot.

Probably going to have to stop feeding birds. Where I use to work had limited success with plastic owls.

We used to have that problem when we lived in town. However, once the pigeons came, so did the Cooper's hawks, which were awesome to watch.

Effectively, we were feeding the hawks. Sometimes you would see a rain of feathers falling from the trees!

Maybe you'll get an urban raptor to help you out

We feed the song birds which in turn feed the raptors. Circle of life and all that. 

As for the pigeon, stop feeding for a week or two and it'll move on. The song birds will return.

That white pigeon is probably one of those they release for weddings and such, haven't seen any wild ones with that coloring.  If it remains, you can always try to capture it, or eliminate it.

This one acts like it was raised. Not scared of people close by it. It has not left our yard since it arrived. I do not want to deal with the poop SO?????

Lol. Try disrupting its roosting places. Maybe it will take to your neighbors house instead.

ReeferMac, I put cardboard and made the window ledge so the bird cannot land on it. It is there this morning and I don't know where it roosted. Will investigate. 

Omega, you could be correct. We have 3 wedding venues within a mile from our home. This bird seems not to know how to forage on it's own.  I have not put feed out for it in 4 days now. Hoping it will leave.

Put a rubber snake on the ledge where it's roosting.  I've had to do that before on a window AC unit.  If that doesn't work, a board with lots of nails in it, close together

Pigeon problem solved. Looked out the window and white feathers everywhere. Hawk got him.
