This may have been covered earlier in the thread and I just missed it but where does all this meat wind up going ? I've hit up hunters on other forums that hunt deer boar bear etc that never mention what happens to the meat. We slaughter hogs in the winter but I'd definitely be interested in trying out different game. Hate to hear it all goes to waste if it's edible.

You are free to take all the meat you want. Most of them get plowed back into the ground. They are usually piled up in the field and the farmers are notified. We have brought some home, but think of them as 200 lb coyotes.

Got another decent one this weekend in south Arkansas. Had my scope settings all jacked up so not as clear as it usually is. Set up calling about 3mins and this joker came right down the middle of the road. 263lbs.

It’s a pulsar trail XP50. I have a few buddies that have 384core scopes, it’s a 640 core and way clearer.

Here’s a pic of it. I’ve got the skull at the taxidermy for a euro mount. 

 

Rig is an 18” 6.5 Grendel with a 762SDN6 and a Pulsar Trail XP50. Convergent systems bullet caller. 3mins of the Glenn Guess Rally Call did the trick. First one I have called in.

What's your euro mount run?  I let a guy do one for me. He did it for free because he was learning. I just had to put the mop & glo on it.

Well 3 nights of hunting in 2 different areas are over. We ended up with 49 pigs in hand and several unrecoverable. A little over 2000 miles of driving. Not including driving around at 70 mph without the lights using only pvs 15s. It was actually a slow hunt, but it was fun.

Wow, that is a lot of pork. What do they do with it all at the end? Do they send it to get processed/take home as much as you want? Or does it get left for coyotes?

It's up to you. If you want it you can take it. However, they think of them very much the same as coyotes. Most of them wouldn't eat a wild hog any more than you'd eat a coyote.

We've had guys take small pigs and back straps. They loved them. My hunting partner and I are after numbers. I like cutters if I can get them. If we take someone, they can keep whatever they want if they are fast about it. We don't sit around and wait on someone for 30 minutes while the quarter one up.

Back to Texas in the morning for hogs a coyotes. Well hogs, but if we see a coyote it's toast. Two shooters and three guns.  338 federal, 308, and 300 blackout. Going to be muddy.
