BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT (BLUF)

This evening I have upgraded our forum software to the new 4.5 track from Invision Power.  This is a pretty significant upgrade behind the scenes, but most everything that you have come to be familiar with on TGO should be essentially the same with some minor improvements here and there.

HOW TO FIX COMMON PROBLEMS

Whenever we do a software upgrade, most problems experienced by the members can be solved by clearing out your web browser cache.  This forces your browser to download all new copies of all of the various bits and pieces of our forum.

To see how to do that, visit this link:

https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-clear-your-cache-on-any-browser

WHAT IF THAT DOESN'T WORK?

If clearing your cache doesn't work, please use this thread to report the problems you are having.  If it is something I can fix, I will gladly look into it.

Dunno about other folks, but broke the layout in FireFox, can't get the sidebar with notice about upgrading to go away, squishes everything else on site onto small area of right side. That notice used to show up centered at top of page.

I disabled the notification about becoming a Benefactor.  Try again and tell me if it's still wonky.

I am using Firefox right now and can't emulate the problem.

Running 1920 x 1080 on 24" monitor btw.

In simple HTML terms it looked like the notice just got notated as within a separate column, if that basic coding even still applies.

The new mobile skin is very different, but I really dig the new menu at the bottom. It makes navigation a lot faster.

Heads Up... I will be updating our software once again this evening.  A few fixes have been released that I want to be sure are in place for us.

My kingdom for a dark theme. 🤣

Guessing the bottom menu Chuck mentions is only for mobile browsers?  I can't see it as I'm typing this on a PC.

Seems to be running pretty smooth.  Thanks for all the time you put into this, David.

Yup. It’s a mobile menu. The mobile skin is excellent. It’s a major update over the old one and so much more useful for me. Especially since I’m a mod and on mobile about 99% of the time.

Where da heck did the edit button go?
I'm a big fan of the edit button.

Nevermind. I found it. In case there's anyone else on here dumb as I am, it's in the three dots in the upper right corner.

Do y’all see that?!

It lets you know where there is a time gap between posts! Man I hope folks notice that. You can do your part to help end 10 year old necroposts.

@TGO David Can you please bring back the edit feature. That's a must-have for typo prone individuals like myself.

Edit- found it. Moved to the top right.

They moved it into this menu drop-down for some reason.

Before the Oct 20 update whenever I receive an email from the Firearms Classifieds section which I have set to "follow" and "immediate notification"; the email contained the entire first post with pictures and everything, now the email only has the first two lines.  Is there anyway to change this back.  Makes it handy to see from just the email without having to click the link into the forum posting.

Prior to Oct 20:

Huh... I didn't even realize that was a new thing.  I found the setting that controls it and changed it back to the old way.

Mine too! Can Santa bring us one for Christmas? Really helps for reading in a dark room.
