National reciprocity

One more reason why Trump is not some kind of Second Amendment messiah.

National Reciprocity is not going to allow someone from TN to carry a gun in NY, CA, etc.  It will only make it harder to carry here.

Unlikely he could get it passed but its better than what his opponents are offering/promising 🙄

Yes spewing bs promises is always better coming from the party you believe to be the best.

I never pointed a finger at either party. I just know one particular party that's promising to take away rights that succeeded to do just that a little less than 3 decades ago.

Being LTF alone is always my goto option but thats not good enough with some people.

Sad thing is this world is full of people whose sole mission in life is to not LPTFA (I just made up an acronym, lol) and they make a very good living at it.

I'm stealing that one.

And its so true.

Any gun related promises he can throw out right now falls on deaf ears for me. With the senate and house in question as they are saying a frothing B/H victory could setup another Clinton ban but this time on steriods.

People seem to have short memories. I remember many thought the GOP was going to pass all sorts of pro gun bills in 2017 when they controlled the house and Senate. If there was ever a time when it was going to happen, that was it.

In my lifetime the gives versus the takes havent been in the gun owners favor. Regardless of party

So my takeaway here is trust in God and keep your powder dry. Depending on any fabricated "party" is an invitation to get royally screwed. The folly of leaders is to stay in power at our expense. Promise anything and take away everything.

I don’t want the Feds in charge of carry permits. A state that doesn’t want you to carry; isn’t going to allow it. However, you aren’t going to force any states into submission, so that will be the end of it.

The only way we will ever be able to carry in all states is if the SCOTUS has a decision that carrying a concealed handgun is a 2nd amendment right. I don’t see that happening either.

Since 1993, we've had a few times where both chambers of Congress and the Presidency were held by a single party on both the D and R side...nothing of significance has happened with regards to guns.

It's become an issue both sides use to froth up a base, but an absolute non priority once they have actual power to wield.  Republicans don't truly want gun rights, and Democrats don't want the backlash it could bring.  They'll just use the issue as campaign fodder.

You mean to tell me that fear mongering is tool used by both sides to drum up support?

You are right.  I have a LEOSA credential, which is supposed to enable me to legally carry in all 50 states, but the fact is some states still dont want to recognise it.  Heck, some wont even let off duty current officers carry.

From my initial post:

During an interview with the NRA’s 1st Freedom, President Donald Trump said he would sign national reciprocity legislation for concealed carry.... if ....it reaches his desk.

I pick on you a lot, but when you’re right, I’ll say so as well. You’re right about this!

On it's surface, National Reciprocity sounds good, but the more I think about it, the more I fear it would lead to some sort of national registry.
