40S&W vs 9mm

I've noticed that WalMart almost always has a dozen or so boxes of 40S&W on the shelf, but hardly ever any 9mm. This surprises me a bit, as I thought that 40 caliber handguns were just about as popular as 9mm handguns. I guess I have been wrong! Anyway, I like 40 as much as 9mm, and have a couple of 40 pistols, so I'm not really griping. Must be a lot of 9mm handguns out there!

You can get almost twice as much 9mm as .40 so it goes twice as fast. At least that's the theory i have.

Guess it depends on what WM you go to. In West Knoxville, one always has 9mm but nothing else. Go 5 miles to another, they always have .40 but no 9. :drunk:

Did I read somewhere that each store does it's own ammo ordering? Or am I just creating a new  situation.

Every Walmart department is like an individual store. The department managers are in charge of all reording however, shelf stock is determined by corporates sales stats.

The walmart in Seymour, the guy who runs it told me that a guy comes in on thursday or friday and buys a sh*t load of 9mm. So they are usually out on the weekends. The truck comes on Tuesday so I can get some on wednesdays.
