Question about the belt clip for a Keltek 380

I have on order a Kel-Tek P3AT and am thinking about getting one of those belt clips to attach to it. Seems like a really convenient way of carrying.

My question is how do others use this clip? Assuming right-hand carry, do you attach the clip to the right side of the gun and carry IWB, or do you attach to left side and OWB carry.

Also was wondering if the clip could be used while carrying in the back pocket? Thinking about it, I would think one would want the clip on the left side of the gun so that it would make it more easy to grab. Im thinking the barrel would be pointed down and the butt would be facing my right side.

Any other thoughts?

I had the clip on a Keltec in .40. It was okay. It tended to get hung up on loose objects, so I switched to a pocket holster. That's the other downside, no holster means lint on, and in, gun, so you need to clean it more often. I carried it in my back pocket a couple of times, but I didn't use the clip. I felt it would be too easy for someone to grab the gun away. Eventually I snagged the clip and bent it out from the pistol, so it became even more of a PITA, so I switched to a pocket holster. I'd pick up at least a Nemesis pocket holster for it. There under twenty bucks, IIRC.

I have used the belt clip on my P3AT and P11 for almost 10 years and have had zero problems with them. I either carry the P3AT IWB or in my strong side back pocket. I have the belt clips mounted on the right side of the weapons. On the P3AT, you can't really tell the difference between it or a knife with a clip on it. The P11, I carry IWB (not in my back pocket). Sometimes, I hear the metal clip come in contact with car door, etc, but have never bent it and it is no more a hinderance than my Surefire Backup light that I carry in my support side back pocket.

When I bought my P3AT a few years ago I bought a right handed belt/pocket clip as I am right handed. I soon found out for me at least I needed a left hand clip belt/pocket to use on my right pocket. The right handed belt/pocket clip when used in a right front pocket (especially with Carhartt pants) leaves the butt of the gun sticking out of the pocket( I don't really care for this). So I got a left handed belt/pocket clip and now the clip sits right up next to my pocket knife in the lower/back part of my right front pocket. I also got a pocket holster and did not care for the way if felt in my right front pocket. So I usually carry the P3AT with the left handed clip still on the gun (even though its not need currently) in my right back pocket witht the pocket holster.

that is long and confusing but I hope you understand it and it helps.

i got the belt clip and it is great. never had any problems with it. now for back pocket carry i use a uncle mikes pocket holster size 0 for small auto. both work well. i also use the belt clip for my p11, it works just as well as the one on the my p3at.
