A customer lent me Marine Sniper, by Charles Henderson. Must say it was a real page turner....read the whole thing in one setting today. I plan on checking out his other work, Silent Warrior as well.

Are there any other 'must read' books in this genre?

As far as fictional stuff, I've really enjoyed all of Joe Buff's books. He's basically what Tom Clancy used to be and pretty much just sticks to Submarine warfare. For non-fiction, I've read a lot of books from WWII, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. The Forgotten Soldier was an excellent read. Basically an auto-biography from a Wehrmacht soldier about his campaign in Russia.

I'm about 60 pages away from finishing "Lone Survivor", if you're not familiar w/ the story:

Lone Survivor.

I'd also recommend "Generation Kill", and while I haven't read it yet, I hear "Blood Makes the Grass Grow Green" is a pretty good read.

Forgot about Lone Survivor. Such a powerful and almost heart wrenching story. I got misty eyed several times while reading it.

Definitely.

I heard the rights have been sold to make a movie based on the book. The director is supposedly the guy who did "The Kingdom". My thoughts? It'll either be really good, or really bad, no in between.

Yeah its one of those things where either the film does it justice, or it doesn't. The Kingdom was pretty good.

Blackhawk down; Lone Survivor; Dear Mom, A sniper's Vietnam; Trigger men; On Combat; On Killing; Terror at Beslin; Bravo Two Zero; marine Sniper(as mentioned); We were soldiers once, and young; Shooter (not the fiction book made into a movie with markie mark); Force recon Diaries 1969 & 1970; Plus quite a few more I can't think of off the top of my head.

yeah.... Marine Sniper really is one of the best. The story is amazing, but the gunnie-talk makes it damn near perfect.
