Winchester 231, Unique, Bullseye, to name a few of my favorites. There are many medium to fast burning powders suitable to these rounds but after much load development and bench testing I kept coming back to 231 so that is my primary powder now. Plus it works through my Dillon powder measure a little better than the flake powders.

Is the Winchester 231 clean burning?

I cannot compare it to Power Pistol, Clays and some of the newer powders as I have never used them but compared to Unique it is a lot cleaner. I love Unique for performance but it is a filthy powder.

Power Pistol will give you the performance of Unique without all the nasty unburned powder mess.

With lead bullets no.With jacketed/plated it is not bad. With coated so-so.FWIW I use Winchester Super Target -WST for .45 ACP.It burns clean and is a little more econonical (less powder to get the same velocity) than most other powders
