I see no way they can do this with out some segment of the population not thinking they got screwed. Of course I think we already got screwed via tarp, Detroit bail outs, and the recovery and restoration bill.

What I really need is someone to explain to me how any of the bailouts are legal Under the Constitution of the united states. Please follow my logic.

Tarp was corporate welfare, The Detroit bail outs were corporate welfare as well. With out reading the entire Restoration and recovery act I would assert that there is public welfare and government welfare as well. Under the US Constitution the words general welfare appear in the preamble one time and in article 1 section 8 of the Constitution.

under Section 1 article 8 it clearly defines general welfare. It does not give congress the right to tax and spend under the general welfare pretense.

This is also supported by the supreme court decision of of the 1936 carter case, and the 1936 Butler case, which holds that congress has no right to legislate monies for the general welfare and no such authority exists.

So how is any of this legal under the US constitution of the Republic of the United states, which is the supreme law of the land. Does the constitution no longer exist, have our demigod political elites taken over the republic with out a shot being fired. Have ,we, us the American citizens surrendered to tyranny.

At this time I cannot argue with you for I feel the same way. I really think that when the economy tanks and I for one think it will. A lot of folks are going to be demanding federal government reform. We are already seeing this by states who are trying to reinsert the 10 th amendment.

I thought, back when they did the auto bailout, that it was a bit uneven. OK so we all got a 600 buck check back in the summer. 600 bucks is not changing jack for me. Sure it paid off what was left of a credit card, but for people with serious debt that was like shooting a BB gun at a freight train.

The biggest issue I see with all the bailouts and stimulus crap is that we are just burying ourselves further in debt. They are trying to put a band aid on a gunshot wound. If anything gets back going right it will just be out of natural rotation.

There is so much money going out nowadays to take care of people that are living longer, people popping out kids like rabbits, etc it's almost impossible to control.

Lewis Black made a good point once about starting up Public Works projects. He said "You build a big ****ing thing. You plan and design the big ****ing thing. You buy supplies for the big ****ing thing, then you hire people to build the big ****ing thing. This creates jobs, then people pay their bills and go buy small ****ing things from the money they got from building the big ****ing thing. Then, people come to see the big ****ing thing and pay to see the big ****ing thing. This stimulates the ****ing economy!" Ah good ole fashioned expletive filled wisdom

Judging from some of the states and governors speaking out, they are not to overjoyed either.

Received this via email this AM. although I do not agree with entire thing it has some valid points.

FROM DENNIS

As I write this column today, there are 26 States of the union which are either in the process of reclaiming their State sovereignty, or have already sealed the deal.

To give some scope to the current attempt of states to reclaim their sovereignty, one must go back to 1860 to fully understand the implications. In 1860-61, 12 of the 35 states stood to reclaim their sovereignty, or 34% of the total number of States in the Union. As of this date, 26 States out of 50 (not the 57 Obama visited during his last crack trip), or 52% of the States of the Union, have moved or are in the process of moving away from the unconstitutional control and abuse of the corrupted Federal government. There are indications that several more states may also file their resolutions to reclaim their state sovereignty.

Hardly unexpected given the Federal government is now run by a totally corrupt socialistic Congress, bent on pile driving unlawful anti-American and unconstitutional bills down the throats of all Americans, regardless of the fact, most of those Americans that will have to foot the bill, aren’t even born yet.

Then add that to an illegal, unqualified and unconstitutional president that together with his comrades in Congress (Politburo), are steamrolling the States and the American public towards hardcore socialism, on the way to a full blown communist State. Of course they call it ‘Change They Can Believe In”. Most Americans call the new communist effort, “unneeded wasteful bull****”.

The reoccurring theme throughout most of the State resolutions to reestablish their State sovereignty, target issues like gun control, unfunded mandates, excessive and or the abusive unconstitutional power of the federal government, etc.

But here is also room for hope that the States that are reestablishing their sovereignty, are by their very action, putting an end to the raiding without compensation, of state and private lands by the Feds. But perhaps the most inviting issue that is raised by the sovereignty issue, may involve the State’s obligation to protect it’s citizens against unconstitutional and or unlawful taxation or debt obligations being passed down to the States and their citizenry.

This is not necessarily as farfetched as one might think. The Feds imposition of increased federal taxes, debt, unfunded mandates, combined social engineering of the public, has a direct impact on the ability of State government to protect the public’s civil rights or to survive its self. It’s not a zero sum game, where these unconstitutional burdens have no impact on the States or their citizens. They do have an impact and those impacts are only enforceable, as long as the States didn‘t object.

Yet another possible benefit of the States standing tall and responsible, may be to put pressure on the Federal government to stop or at least, slow down the printing of inflationary currency, that is based on nothing but thin air. State revenues and budgets are at risk of total collapse, if the value of our currency is further eroded by the senseless printing of worthless money, for the sake of expanding the socialist agenda at the Federal level. States are totally dependent on a strong and stable tax generated dollar.

Most States also realize that where taxes remain high, business and industry will remain depressed, thus, jobs and tax revenues flee the area. Add to that, a toxic mix of abusive and unwarranted Federal laws, regulations, policies and industry breaking mandates, business and industry are beaten to death by the sheer cost of compliance. Not even State governments can avoid the heavy hand of a Federal government gone insane.

The most shocking (but Great) news of late, are the number of Governors and Mayors that are stepping up and refusing the Federal “stimulus” money… and the number seems to be growing every day. How about that, Governors and Mayors with morals, principles and the common sense to realize what this so called “stimulus bill” is really all about.

It’s not about jobs, nor restarting a stalled economy, or even rebuilding America’s infrastructure. One only has to read the 1,000 page bill to see, that what I’m saying, is all too true. It is about paying off government and industry unions, enriching those that have ridden the Obama bandwagon and to enslave both the State and the American people, to total dependence on the whims of the Obama Communist Party. To say otherwise, is to simply lie. But this administration has no second thoughts about lying to the American public, and they don’t plan on telling the truth anytime in the near future.

The simple truth is, that the so called “stimulus bill” is a pre-packaged extortion of the taxpayer’s money for generations to come, for the purpose of bribing the States with instant cash, in return for accepting both the Obama communist doctrine and agenda, which requires that the individual States give up all their rights, as granted by the Constitution.

What is at sake, is not a minor situation. The Obama Communist Party seeks to federalize everything from banks, to automakers, oil companies, Wall Street, communication companies, States and their National Guards, just to name a few. All of this doesn’t mean that the American people will not be able to take their country back, but it would be far more difficult and the loss of American lives in that effort would be 10 fold.

Push, prod, support and make sure your State joins with the other States that seek to reestablish their sovereignty.

Please consider joining Patriots For America www.patriotsforamerica.ning.com ......not a social club but a team willing to sacrifice and "stand in the gap" to protect and defend the United States Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic...if you have the fire in the belly and believe we have a "Constitutional Emergency", America needs your backbone and muscle as part of a "massed body" of uncompromising patriots.

I wonder how much longer before something happens and the lid blows off this mess.

One of my local reps Brian Kelsey (the guy who said he had "a big problem with Kent Williams being speaker) put forth a motion to have TN deny the stimulus money. He got blasted for it as being "foolish and young" of course. I, however, will be letting Mr. Kelsey know his efforts are appreciated. He is one to keep an eye on, he is far smarter than the Democrats like to admit.
