MIdway Starts selling fishing gear - mixed feelings

Saw an ad earlier that Midway is starting selling fishing gear. While that sounds good, it hints at them hedging their bets against being only a gun supplier. Nothing wicked in that, but might foreshadow much larger things happening.

I’m sure Amazon is kicking their azz. They had ridiculous shipping rates for so long; prime members don’t have to play that game. I doubt it’s anything more than them needing added income.

I would not read a lot into it. If they were going to make this kind of move they should have done it 20 years ago but better late than never I guess. They are probably just trying to attract more sportsmen to their business....JMHO

It makes sense as a business move in theory, just not sure how much it'll move the needle on sales.  I'm guessing there is no small percentage of people being into both guns and fishing.

Was it Bud's that I saw selling motor cycles and ATVs? I know I've seen several companies expanding into different products lately.

Ya think smilin’ Larry’s retirement plan now includes selling out to Bass Pro?

Uncle Larry’s loaded.  How much more does he need?

I do like Midway but their prices aren’t the greatest, cutting off C&R discounts, and the jacked up shipping charges kinda left me soured for a while.  It is what it is though.  If they have something I need I’ll order.

I use to look on Midway but since Amazon is a thing now, unless it’s restricted from being sold on amazon, I’ll just get it there. Otherwise I’ll look somewhere more specialized, like a ammo site or reloading site, etc.

Im sure I’m not the only one who has shifted business to Amazon...

Midway has sold knives, flashlights, tents, camping gear and all manner of what nots for many years. I'm kinda surprised it took 'em this long to get into fishing.

I got into amazon for books actually. But have bought all manner of things from them...dog food, flashlights, more books, 2 laptops(dropped power lift chair on the first one), bookcases, shoes, and more books, 2 Kindles, a spotting scope I've never used, books, DVDs and Blu-rays, dresses for the wife(turned out quite good actually), holsters, a few magazines for Taurus pistols, Origami Folding shelving units--another good product btw, and more books.

Probably more, but can't come up with it.
