Shooting & Arthritis

Does anyone on the TGO forum have arthritis in their hands/wrists? And if so, how does it, if it does, affect your shooting or gripping your pistols. I have it in both hands/wrist, and larger calibers hurt like the devil, thus making my 9mm an obvious good choice. Do any of you have the same issue and if so, whats your remedy of choice?? Thought it might be good to talk about health issues that may or may not affect our shooting. Just wondering.......

I have issues in my strong hand, wrist and elbow. It definately affects how I re-settle the gun after firing it. I moved to a smaller caliber (9mm) which allows me to get my follow on shots into my target much more rapidly and accurately. I don't have to fight to settle it as much.

I have arthritis in both wrists and have had surgery on my strong hand wrist. The range of motion is greatly reduced, so I have had to adjust my grip and the way I sight the target. Can't stop shooting, wood working, gardening or motorcycling because of some pain.

I have a 1911 but don't shoot it much. I stick with 9mm or smaller and take 3 motrin before going to the range and usually only on the warmer days.

I don't have arthritis, yet, in my hands/wrist. I was wondering though, if some form of brace may help the anatomy of the wrist deal with the force of the recoil during firing.... maybe even something as common as this:

I have some damage to my non-firing hand and just getting old affects both hands. Asprin and other OTC drugs help somewhat and having a firearm that is easy to use makes a big difference.

Revolvers seem to be better for people who have hand problems, especially in less powerful calibers.

Well I to have arthritis, but it does not seem to effect me much when shooting. Now after I am done shooting the pain is definitely there Motrin works about as good as anything. I still shoot calibers larger than 9MM. usually 45 acp 45 colt and 40 caliber.

Suggest generic ibuprofen at less than half the price of Motrin or Advil. Same stuff, same dosage.

No problem with arthritis,but I do have acute back pain from breaking it 3 years ago that tends to bother me while shooting.

Not really much I can do other then use some good recoil pads on the long guns,and some couch cushions on the Nagant

Pffff.....I use the stuff thats regulated by the state!

Sometimes I tink its strong nuff to put down a small horse
