A buddy reported low turnout through the door but vendors and pin hookers were out in force. And prices were as expected.

“Pin hookers” —- now that is a term that I haven’t heard in a long, long time!!  (Even though I seem to have experienced quite a bit of it). :)

Never heard the term before but I imagine it refers to those vendors and other wandering, random, “capitalists” found at gun shows that buy low and sell high within a matter of minutes or hours.

I first picked it up at the stockyards decades ago. It basically means someone who buys something with full intent on resale.

After doing shows for so many years i can pick out the veterans at it. More a cutthroat crew to deal with than at the stockyards.

Beware of anyone who addresses you as neighbor, lol.

I actually like it when vendors pin hook alongside your welfare recipients and "fixed income" SSI teet suckers. Makes for good people watching.

Funny you should say that. Couple Saturdays back we were shopping at the Walmart at walker springs and saw you high stepping through the food aisles. I almost came up and said that very phrase but with the big C on us I didn't want to freak you out. My hair has gotten longer since you last saw me and you wouldn't have recognized me which means I could have gotten a GFY, lmao.

If you had come up and called me neighbor I’d have known it was you, lol.

I moved like lightning before all this crap at WM, can’t tolerate the place, now I just do it with a mask on and step livelier.

Yeah its became a code word I guess lol.

WM is fun. Like you I can out stride most of the mouth breathers and people watching for 5 min reveals if covid were a treadmill they'd all be dead

I went to the show yesterday. There were a lot of empty tables in the back and to the right. 400 rented would be a stretch IMO. I was looking for a particular hand gun and glancing all of them over, it took me exactly 1/2 hr to go threw the entire show. Then 15 more minutes to figure out that no one there had any 38-40 ammo for sale. A lot of the "tactical" AR stuff and even the bolt on over handgun sub gun shell accessories. To bad Chilhowie shut down. I think I liked that one better for some reason.

You’ve never been to a stock sale I presume. A pen booker is a guy who haunts the outside of the sale barn and makes a lowball offer on cattle before they are ran through the auction. I know you’ve seen these guys a a gun show.

@FUJIMO is the only one that I know that uses the term frequently. Maybe it is just his age showing.... 🤣

Not that by any other name are these guys any better. Making a buck is one thing. The guys up here that do it the most are a$$hats.

Well, if you live in Ringgold, you can't simply go to the show and buy a handgun anyway.  You would have to have it sent over to an FFL in Georgia.
