Hi all!

I’m new here,I apologize if I am posting to wrong forum.

I have marlin 22 model 60. I have tried 2 different rods both of them have same issue. The loading tube rod will not let me turn it to lock the rod in place. I hope this is clear and will appreciate any help.

Thank You

Matt

Does this happen when the magazine tube is loaded or unloaded?

Both loaded and unloaded. It’s as if the rod were too short. It is bottoming out. When I get turn it to latch it down it is catching on the ‘nodules’

make sense?

thanks for your help

So there are 2 pieces to the tube magazine. There is the inner tube that can be taken out and an outer tube that is fixed to the gun. Inner tube has a plunger like plastic piece on  the end that goes into first.

These did come in different capacities. For instance some help 18 shots and some 14.

So are you saying the inner tube with the locking posts stops before it can get all the way into the outer tube that has the locking notches?

Is it possible a bent shell is stuck down in there?

Pictures would help us help you a lot.

I would pull the tube all the way out then while placing a bore light down in the action end look for an obstruction from the muzzle end.

If you cant get it to latch/lock properly it sounds to me like a tube that's too long not short.

Check the end of the outer tube to see if it may be slightly bent down at the locking notch. I've seen that happen before.

After checking the MarlinOwners forum, it seems to be a common problem. There are several threads over there describing different solutions.
