Does Tennessee require gun owners to register firearms in their own name?

Hi all!

I moved to Williamson County, TN 9 years ago. When my family left California, my father gave my son a CZ 257 rifle that is registered in his name in California. I put it in storage and never used it or transferred the registration to my name. That storage space is rented by my ex and I need to remove the rifle, so it's coming to my home.

Would it be illegal for me to have a rifle in my home that's registered to my father in California? I am eligible to legally own a fire arm and even have a background clearance to volunteer in TN schools. Does TN require gun owners to have them registered in their name?

When you left California, you left their liberal control behind as well.

Yes, that was abundantly clear right away! Haha
