Savage Fox AE Grade 16ga.  Built 1938 or 1939 in Utica NY.  Nicely figured wood with minor handling. The wood has been lightly cleaned but would benefit from a deep cleaning. Engraved, case colored box lock action.  The case coloring is faded but still well represented.  Engraving on the trigger guard, no engraving on the barrel.  The 26" barrels are roll marked “Made by Savage Arms Corp Utica NY USA” and “Chromox Fluid Compressed Steel”.  The barrels may have been buffed and re-blued. There is no caliber mark, nor indication of barrel choke.  Single non-select trigger.  Ansley H Fox in a banner on the action. “The Sportsman Store” on the rubber butt pad, white line and black line spacers. The pad is sound and in good condition. Some surface rust was removed with fine steel wool in one spot on the action. The bluing is fair on the barrel with several patches where some surface rust was removed with fine steel wool. The bore is perfectly bright. The action is tight.  The barrel constrictions are not marked but I measure them Imp Cyl and Mod.  This classic American double would make a fine shooter.

This is an ‘attic find’ and the owner has asked me to list it for her.  The gun is currently located with me near Knoxville/Maryville/Sevierville but arrangement may be made for face to face around Murfreesboro, or shipped to your FFL dealer.
