Another stuped question about bullets

Does the flat point on a pistol bullet have any other function besides not going through a bulletproof vest?

They were designed in the late 1800’s to aid feeding in lever action rifles. The diameter and velocity of most bullets keep them from defeating body armor.

More shock upon impact, and leaves a cleaner hole in a paper target.

Are you referring to the hydrophilic effect the bullet would have on tissue on impact?

I think you mean the hydrostatic shock.  That's fairly unlikely as the chances of a bullet hitting a flat surface on a critter squarely while spinning at 250k rpm aren't great.

I am unfamiliar with that term, but jab something with a sharpened pencil then hit it with a hammer. Maybe that is a good illustration of what I am trying to say.

Perhaps a better illustration would be the superiority of a blunt arrow tip meant for small game to a pointed field tip used for target shooting.

You really should learn how to spell Stupid before you handle firearms and ammo .

You left a space between the final word and closing period of your sentence.

Thanks for the help. I put food on the table being a sheet metal worker. If I couldn't hit it with a hammer a couple of times, it wasn't worth my attention.
